Hi All

On my 1989 300 tdi disco I am having problems with fuse 8 in the passenger compartment fuse board keep blowing.

this fuse controls rh side/tail lights, multifunction unit, glovebox light switch, headlight leveling, interior illumination of the instruments.

Is there a common fault, the fuse only blows occasionally and i cant trace what causing it to blow.

thanks

I'm assuming that yours is in fact a 1998 TDi 300. Yes, it is a common fault.

My friend has the same car and her no 8 fuses blows quite often also.

Do you:
1. Have a towbar and tow a trailer from time to time?
2. Have extra spotlights that come on with your main beam headlights?
3. Have side lights in the rear pillars as well as in the bumper?

If you answer yes to one or more of these, it may be that the circuit is being overloaded.

Can't remember for sure but is the std No.8 fuse 10 or 15amp? Try a larger fuse - yes I know there are risks.

Alternatively, take the side light bulbs out of the pillars. On a '98 as std, you should only have sidelights in the rear bumper.

Thanks Biglad

The fuse is a 10 amp.

I have no extras, only side lights in the bumper, the fuse pops without a trailer, just when the side lights are on.

There must be a short in the wiring, but it happends when it fancies and not to order.

thanks for your comments
