OK, have tub and roof off for some MOT welding. Under neath the back (Pick up) window, is a short strip of metal riveted by three rivets to the bit where it joins the tub, immediatley behind the middle seat. This metal strip seems to have no other purpose than to hold on some fabric/foam. As most of mine has disintegrated I am wondering what it is meant to be for. As far as I can see it would hang behind middle seat or possibly fold back inbetween bottom of window and tub, where they bolt together.

Any clues please?

OK I give in. My powers of description are no match for your stretched imaginations. Here's some pictures, it's the black tatty fabric which is hanging off the riveted strip. What's it for please:D??

if only there were a "this thread is useless even with pics" smiley.....

not a clue, not got one on my 90, but mines hard top rather than pickup......doesn't look factory fit though, given the number of holes either side of it.....may have taken some positioning ;)

It int owt landy related..

BTW that the 'Rotton bit of foam retaining strip' a factory fitted optional extra and increases the value massively as not many came off the line and they are now impossible to source

Perchance, is your LR an ex MoD one. The Army have a penchant for putting bits and pieces on for specific reasons. I think you can safely remove it and keep it in the spares bin. However, if the truck falls apart, its nowt to do with me.

If you take that off you will need to change you rear prop for a wide angle one i think.

Best to repair it.
