Right, as per the other thread for the fuel tank cradles.

Can i get a list of names, or responses on the poll of people who would commit to the purchase of a new fuel tank cradle if i made them in say batches of 10+, dependant on price etc.

I'd be making them to try and incorporate a little deflector shield or something to stop them getting clattered and omit the need for a separate fuel tank guard. I could also offer them plain similar to standard if people would also prefer this.

Serious people only though please, its no good me having a list of 30 names if only 10 would actually commit come production time, like many others i've got a business to run and would appreciate the timewasters refraining :D
 
Hi , if the price is right :D count me in , £300 is silly billy for a L R part , I have repaired mine for now , but it is weak :eek: you are local to me , and I can get the new one galvinised for free at work !

Saves me getting it zinc primered :D

Going to aim for under £200

I've had a company making me some bent tube sections for the rear ladders, so probably get them to do the tube sections for the cradles too since its the same size tubing by the looks of it, their work is good, so they should all be spot on

The problem with galvanising these, is because its generally hot dip galvanising, they'll distort like a bitch since its only bent flat bar between the plates etc. May twist them to an extent where they won't fit, so zinc primering and a good powdercoat may be a better route

Thanks Nick, i'll give it until the middle of next week to see how many replies we get, then i'll have a better understanding of numbers for pricing purposes for the first batch.
 
My thoughts... peeps often come on ere to ask about fool cradles. Peeps also fight for them on e bay. So making 20+ units won't be a problem as they will sell on ere or on e bay. the stronger version won't sell as well I guess. but it's all down to price difference between the 2. I appreciate that depends on quantity.
 
Really need to make at least 10 units to get the bent bar sections done for a fair price; and I doubt i'll have the ability to pay for the manufacture of 20 units without a commitment on 10 from people on ere. I'll look at it during the week, but I really need to get one to work the design from, and breakers on ebay want stupid money for them

Will be pricing for both, the difference in price won't be that much probably, something like 20-50 quid i'd suspect depending on how much extra beef i add to it.

long term you'd be better with a brand new replacement as opposed to a used and battered 10yr old one, given how much you have to remove to replace the cradle, i doubt you'd want to do it again the year after replacing it with a used and slightly rusty one.

Hi , you do have a point , we send 2 to 3 artic loads a week for hot dip galvanising , its also supprising how much stuff gets lost in the pot :D ive had the odd item done as a favor ! Getting second hand is a waste of time and effort as said already .
 
hi ses88 i wouldn't mind either depending on price?...do you have any ready now?...cant find one anywhere apart from rubbish ones that are no good!....just paid £50 from a breakers and when it arrived it was in worse condition than mine???? grrrr please help..thanks sam

None ready yet, haven't got one to work from...if the one you've bought is intact and suitable to work from, then i'd be interested in taking it off your hands. Sooner i get one to work from, the sooner i can get some made :D

That sounds like a plan :D There are thousands of freelander ones on the road :D I thought there would be more of a demand for this part ;)
 
Well theres 11 people so far said they want one on the poll, and probably 110 on ebay with a saved search for when they come up for sale :D
Just need to buy one at a reasonable price, since the breakers want stupid money for ****e
