Soon as i get a decent one to work from, will get prices to make them but will need to do it in batches to make it worthwhile for me...

Quite understandable.
I wonder if you can alter the design for easier fitting. I have in mind cutting the old one off for removal and then fitting the new one without dismantling anything else. If this was possible it would encourage people to fit sooner rather than later.
 
Yeah i'll be looking at that, easier is better for me, may make the design easier too, although there may be a reason why the fittings are mounted above other things for, have to look at it properly
 
Thats the intention, i just hope the costings don't come out like the genuine part, although I can guarantee it'll last longer :rolleyes:

LR would not manufacture the part..it would be made, like most other components by contract suppliers. The tooling costs (Press tooling)have to be covered, the contractors profit, the transport cost & profit and finally LR's small mark up !!
Also bear in mind that they increase the cost allowed during the car build by at least 300% for a spare part sale.
Personally, I believe you will beat them hands down on price and definately on strength and durability.:)

Yeah i know how the process works, and the markup on parts. I just know it won't be "easy" to make given the shape it has to fit to, will take some trial and error on some parts to get them right. But as said, in terms of design and longevity i've got that sorted

I've got a mate who breaks Freelanders. I'll see if he has any decent ones. He's also the cheapest breaker around so hopefully it will be an agreeable price for you...........

Parts a for Freelanders.

This is the main Freelander section. I can understand why your confused. Freelander owners have taken over in the tratter section too. It's our second home.
 
Was in Land Rover dealers this morning and got a price for the fuel tank, list price is £240 odd +VAT, they said they could do a discount of 10% off that price.

With regard to the old part number and new part number, the parts guy was sure that the newer part number fits the old cars, and that there were just a couple of changes in design etc hence the new part number.
