Fuel shut off solenoid

The amazon product seems to have disappeared since I posted - annoying!

I'm planning to connect it through the immobiliser. Basically, a 12v line to the solenoid, connected through one of the two immobilser circuits.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of the solenoid to put in the fuel line?

Just a little point to remember , check that the fuel line still has some flex in it, after a while they go hard and will not fit on the connection barbs if you use this sort, found this on my diesel spill line when I was trying to fix a leak, ( i think they are the same ?? ) best to check tho, and if you have already cut the pipe can be a bit of bother, I even tried hot water to try and give the pipe a bit of flex but no good. Got my fuel cut off switch off of Ebay, but still got to fit it. LOL
 
Any chance you could post the details of the solenoid in that kit?

I don't need the rest of the kit so if I could get a part number for just the solenoid, hopefully I can find somewhere that will sell it.

For obvious reasons, I won't be posting any pictures of where I end up fitting the solenoid, but I will happily provide details of which one I end up using and how easy it is to fit.
 
Vehicle Wiring Products sell a complete fuel solenoid kit on their website but it states that it can't be used for vehicles which have a leak off system. I'm not quite sure what that means to be honest, I'm sure more knowledgeable gentleman will. It's the complete kit for 47 quid anyway

200Tdi and 300Tdi engines do use a leak off system to return unused fuel to the tank so based on the statement, this kind of solenoid is not suitable.

Can anyone with more knowledge explain why this is and suggest what kit is suitable for electronically cutting the fuel supply? (either by an immobiliser or a simple switch)

I think you'll find that they have mis-phrased their wording.

I think it means it's no good for a common rail engine where large quantities of fuel would be recirculated. I can see no reason why it is unsuitable for a tdi engine.
 
Hi,

not sure if its too late but I've got the following fitted to my defender, originally it was branded as "Cobra Diesel Guard" but I found that the electronic valve and security tab (like they use in some cash tills in pubs) is available from a company called Kosran.

Kosran plant security tracking | plant immobilisers | construction and agriculture | UK, France, Spain and Europen markets

If you search for their "ECV Touch-FoB", its used on loads of plant machine so able to cope with off road without issue. They aren't cheap (I think around £500 for a fully installed system).
