fuel pump timing??

I've just had a new high pressure fuel pump on my td4 and when I go to start car after leaving it a few hours the revs are up and down to near on stalling. After about 30 seconds it's fine and runs and idlea okay. Going to take it back to garage who did it but would I be right that the timing is out on the pump? It idled fine before the pump was changed.

its a common rail engine so injection pump isnt timed

Sounds like air getting into fuel system once switched off

I'll get it taken back to garage I took it to. It's a land rover specialist. spoke to my mate who is a mechanic and he says it's probably air in system or the pressure sensor / return valve on the rail. It's not failed to start and once over the rough patch it runs great.
