Landrover 90 2.5 na had it few months now 1st time I have drove it alot due to bad weather was out in it all saterday in snow. Got in it today started fine but its seems to have lost power and it wont gwt over 30mph in 3rd or 2nd and 1st dosent seem to pull away. And now and again it just cuts out wen it idle its got half a tank nof fuel in. Any I have done a search and found could be the fuel lift pump? Or do you think could be worn engine. Hope someone could give me a pointers. Other to put a 200tdi in :)

Come to change lift pump this morning and took it off and seems to be oild comibg out where I took the lift pump off is this normal or has somethibk else gone as 1st time I have ever done thanks in advance

Not entirely sure how much oil you'd expect to see there, but I'd expect a little oil to be on those moving parts.

Change your fuel filter also. I recently had very similar power loss problems with my 300tdi. Changed the fuel filer and it was back to normal.

Fitted new lift pump and a new filter. Runs well but every now and again it starts to slow down and cuts out once stoped. Then I get it started and give it a rev and all its back to normal could I still have air in the lines sumwer or could it be blocked.

Any other symptoms? E.g Is it blowing a load of smoke out the back?

Does it only happen after periods of high load/speed? Is it related to how much fuel you have in the tank? I.e. only when it's nearly empty or only when it's nearly full?

Have you tried any diesel injector cleaner like Redex or diesel magic?

Did you change the air filter also?

Thanks for your reply. The tank at then minute is half full as though it could be because it was running low. They is a bit of smoke on start up but once on the move at sl9w or fast speeds they is no smoke. Unless I stop it and give it a rev then looks like a blue ish smoke. Haven't changed air filter as onlg been 9n about 4 month. And haven't tryed any injector cleaner. Also I have noticed the the 1st injector near the bulkhead seems like its leaking for around their can you buy new gasket/seals or best getting new injector. Sorry for the l9ng post

just check all the fuel lines, and injector pipes are tight for that one,and if it still leaks,u can buy recon injectors( i wuddnt pearsonaly),or buy a used set from a running engine! and all the old 2.5 n/a smoke abit, and the old 2.25's are worse, aslong as its not clouds of blue smoke,ur alrite! and you could try the injector cleaner first, its the cheapest option to start with! the injector leak realy wont help tho, especialy with an old 2.5 n/a! it wont tick over on 3,well mine didnt when my injector pipe came appart! you might have a load of **** at the bottom of your tank that ur pick up pipe may be picking up with the fuel, might be worth taking the drain bung out,and draining your fuel, and see what comes out with it! :D u thought ur reply was long! haha

uep i think you beat me with your reply lol, but thanks yeh i might drain the tank as wen i took filter of it was full of gunk and muck so will do that, i will got around making sure all line are tight and now leaks any where elc, i will call and get some injector cleaner on tomoz, and one have a good recommendation ?
thank for ya help will find out whats up with it one way or another lol

I've used Redex, but prefer diesel magic. Halfords sell both, but your local petrol garage probably only does Redex if they do it at all.
