Fuel Filter Question

Hmmmm... I know when I was convinced I had an air leak a few people reckoned it was because I had joined the fuel pipes with rubber fuel hose clamped over the top. There's a tendency for the inner rigid fuel pipe to deform slightly when the jubilee clips are tightened up.
But given that you've got the proper hoses - it can't be that!

As you say, cracking the fuel filter bleed screw shouldn't result in any air under normal circumstances - it's obviously getting in somewhere, but you're there looking at it so you'll have a far better idea than me! Wish I could suggest something else, to be honest - you were a great help when I was trying to sort out my fuel supply issue.

Haha, no worries :) I'll get to the bottom of it. It's usually a simple problem and I'll probably end up nipping something up and that will be that!

Just found this video on youtube:

Some of the comments suggest that a high / erratic idle can be solved by simply adjusting the fuel down slightly. Considering I installed new nozzles, this is going to be worth a try. Which adjustment to make, whether it be over all fuelling, smoke screw or other diaphragm adjustments, I do not know however!

Pos I'd really think it could be the jubilee clips thats the problem . Had a similar prob on a tractor I used with the lines being jubilee clipped on, it allowed air to seep into the system all the time. Had to put on proper feul line on to get air tight. Think that you may have same prob.

Thanks for the info. I might end up swapping to genuine fuel line in the next few weeks, but I think I've just found the cause of my problem - see my other thread: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/fluctuating-idle-118913-2.html

Thanks

read your other thread looks like you are onto something there hopefully. The air in your filter though might still be from your joins in the pipe work, the tractor I had probs with was leaking air back into the system via the return pipe complete with jubilee clips and metal joining pipe. Jist a good place to look with your joins too.

Thanks everyone who suggested the jubilee clip over fuel line problem. It's perfectly understandable and I will replace my rubber fuel line with the real plastic deal as soon as I get the funds!
