Fuel filter issues

Just had my fuel filter fail at 16k miles on new range rover.
Is it because I was using cheap desial or was I just unlucky . I was burning through a lot of Adblue also. Will be interesting what MPG and Adblue usage will be going forward. Performance seems improved already

Should be replaced about those miles anyway, yes if you constantly put dirty diesel in, you need to change it sooner

Land rover assist say normal replacement is on second service at 30k. So that's not true.
Land rover assist also say it's not the fuel. Is there such a thing as dirty diesel as all diesel sold conforms to a certain standard?
The issue here is if anyone else have had fuel filter issues with land rover. Does winter diesels have a different composition...does the cold effect the viscosity of diesel?

if you where to take time and do some google search you will find diesel has a property that holds moisture regardless if its a winter or summer grade or even a bio fuel used .. this moisture can turn into an algea and it will thrive very fast
its well known for fuel stations that do not have a fast turn over can also contaminate your tank and the status of the tank bowser and bowser filter was last changed

unfortunatly in your case you dont have the old fuel filter to drain and inspect fluid contamination ..but it would be nice to cut this open and inspect as it could be clogged with carbon from the fuel return algea or dirt and rust or other debris

if your not worried about emissions in the mean time have a search in add blue deletes ... as when these systems fail in the near future can be very costly to diagnose and repair ... the left over urea use this on your lawns and garden to keep the green people at bay as its also a good fertiliser
