I am fitting new shocks & springs this week to my 110. I have caster correction bushes to also fit.

Is it possible to jack the front of the vehicle and remove both front radius arms or will it cause the axle to move out of line? The reason I ask is I'm thinking of using one arm as a jig to correctly space the replacement bushes.

If you use stands off the chassis, does it matter if the axel moves?

Its position is controlled by the arms so, when you refit them, the position will be regained.

You may need some force to move the axel on refitting but it's not going to be beyond ability.

What I mean is, you're not trying to maintain some setting or other. You just need to make sure you can get it all back together again without bother.

Totally agree — the axle position is mainly controlled by the control arms, so small shifts when you remove them aren’t a big deal. Just make sure to get a proper alignment (wheel alignment) done after reassembly to keep everything running smoothly and avoid uneven tire wear. It’s pretty standard procedure and shouldn’t cause any issues if done right.

I agree on principle that removing both is not a problem as you regain alignment whe. You refit. However from expiriance of swapping bushes on one and both radius arms. To get it lined back up and the bolts in requires a lot of prying, ratchet strapping, swearing, etc. so it is not as straightforward as it sounds!

Oh yes, it's a bugger. I found a long tapered punch helps to enlign the holes but it's still a bugger. I've only ever done the job twice, all bushes, so haven't found an easy way that a landy mechanic at a dealer probably has.

Completed the rears this afternoon. Replaced the shocks and springs with OME. Pretty straight forwarding and problem free.

Looking to make a start on the fronts tomorrow so hoping they will go as smoothly.

The ride height on the rear has increased by 1" but that may settle, however, I was told that the ride height would increase by 1-1.5" so maybe not.

The only thing I feel may cause a headache will be the fitting of the Castor correction bushings in the radius arms but fingers crossed that won't be the case.

Renewing front shocks and spring pans on mine. All turret rings nuts came off with none broken [pays to oil them] One turret had a rotted out section, did not want to wait for a replacement so welded in a patch.

I opted for tubular turrets to reduce crud build up and subsequent corrosion. Had to trim some of the inner wing and turrets to make fit but love the look of the exposed shock. I have only done the offside so far as it took longer than expected. Nearside to do tomorrow and all being well the radius arms. However, there doesn't appear to be any lift on the front over that which was previously fitted so not sure the castor alignment will have changed. Will still fit the castor correction bushes as instructed just to be sure. I will post some pictures upon completion.

By the way, did you notice any difference in handling or stiffness after fitting the OME setup in the rear? I'm thinking of doing a similar upgrade and curious how it feels on the road.

All could and shocks now fitted. Castor correction to fit in radius arms tomorrow and then it’s job done.

Already the ride comfort, plushness and handling is noticeably different than what has been removed.

Very happy thus far. 👌
