Front or rear locking diff?

Salisbury Detoit but its an axle swap and more unsprung weight. Quaiffe, trutrac or arb (Weak Weak horrible well marketed things) but they are all serious money ashcroft is probably the best value for money and longevity but do buy uprated shafts if you try anything in anger you Will break shafts. Forget 10 spine shafts are weak by design you can upgrade to stronget 10 spline shafts which are OK but the 3mm extra diameter increases strength by a fair ammount just by simply going 24 spline which is no bad thing.

If you were to run AT's then you can get away with std shafts but anything half decent then shafts will be on my list for sure.

Well I've jacked it up and with te hand brake off and in neutral I can turn one rear wheel I I have it in 1st it locks up, did this mean my diff lock is stuck in?

When it is not in gear with one rear wheel off the floor the wheel will spin freely with the hand brake off, if it's in first gear the wheel locks, I was under the impression that unless the Center diff lock was not in I should have been able to spin the rear wheel if the diff was open.

sticking it in first gear with one wheel off the ground is effectively the same as applying the hand brake, youre stopping the propshaft from turning. so your wheele in the air wont turn cos nothing else can.

if you get both back wheels in the air... with the propshaft locked , turn one wheel the other should rotate in the oposite direction with a working unlocked rear diff. with a locked rear diff the propshaft has to turn for a wheel to turn.

been doing some searches and have come across kam diffs, its the same as arb but electric not air, any one used them any good? also came accros lockrite? whats these and also maxidrive but could find much on the last 2.

W O P

World Of Pain,

Sounds good in principle very expensive nice bloke to deal with but Ashcroft really is the way forward

maxi drivew are good i fitted a lot for company that imported them a few years ago ,came with strengthened half shafts ,drive members ,and replacement hub seal to allow you to run axle oil threough to drive members ,best locker ive seen but expensive

Also look up Kaiser locker similar to a detroit My bro has one in his disco however it don't half clonk sometimes whereas my detroit hardly ever makes any noise

I have a lock right 10 spline almost built up to go in the front of my 90 but it will eat itself being 4.7 and 10 spline. Also will be interesting driving on the road but I have a set of FWH for it so that should suss that one out
