I must of read your mind as I got a Haynes manual come today and haven’t they gone up in price! I last got one for £8 now bloody £25 lol. I will order a new flasher unit. Do you know why the flasher unit I got has four connectors? Also sorry for another question do you know what that is in the picture it is at the back of where the dash panel goes?

That's the voltage regulator. It drops the supply voltage from 12v to 10v for the gauges.

Thank you very much.
Yes voltage regulator, you dont need to worry about that unless your temp and fuel gauges start playing up, its probably the most reliable part of the vehicle. Its been a long time since I did my hazard flasher and I cant remember how many cables.were attached but the circuit diagram in your new and expensive haynes manual will be a good guide. To be honest, haynes manuals arent as good as they used to be but the circuit diagrams are still good. You just have to double check you are looking at the right one for your vehicle, Ive made that mistake a.couple of times and it leads to confusion. I think my indicater flasher had three wires and the hazard flasher had four but dont hold.me to that. Dont trust any of the wires presently connected unless you test them first. Experience has taught me that problems with indicators are usually caused by bad connections at the bulb holders.

As what charge is in the battery doesn’t last long Or. Should I run the engine to keep the battery charged?

You need a new battery if it doesn't last long while testing as if lights not working not using any volts...I have a long lead I made up for DMM that has a clip that attaches to battery neg so I can test for power at lights etc...

I have also got to wire in a safety switch the one with the big red key! I was going to wire it in through the live battery feed to the switch then onto the solenoid do you agree with this way of wiring in the switch??

I have mine wired to the battery neg cable and also have the position 3 ignition switch wire routed thru a hidden push button start...

Yes my hazard flasher has four wires coming out from it. Will be double checking everything I do when fitting the new indicators relay for sure. Been told the old relay which had four connections that one pin is for the tow bar or trailer! I’m replacing it with a 3 pin relay. Hoping it turns up tomorrow so I can crack on. Really appreciate your help sir. I’m hoping with the pricey new Haynes manual I can understand more lol. But you will probably still see me asking more questions on here. This has to be the best series forum I have ever been on so helpful especially to me lol. Again appreciate your help and everybody else that has answered questions I have put on this forum. Be lucky and keep yourself and your families safe!!

I like the hidden start up button! I don’t think I would be able to do that I’m having enough trouble getting the side lights and indicators sorted out lol.

Morning sir, I got the new indicator flasher, now all 4 indicators work how they should when I pull the hazard switch also the little bulb on indicator stalk flashes as well. But I still have no left or right indicator when I move the stalk. I was going to take this apart (picture shows back of stalk) do you know how this comes apart? I have taken picture of what the fixing is there is 4 of them! Was hoping to take apart and clean up inside to hopefully get stalk working?

Ive never taken one apart but I assume.you would need to drill out the rivets. To be honest, I dont think they are too expensive so it might just be easier to buy another one. If you check the wires against a circuit diagram, you should be able.to check if it is working with a multi meter or test lamp.

Hello sir, yesterday was the first time I have been able to get some time on my truck. I really am trying to understand what I’m meant to do with the electrics but they are really messing with me lol. Yesterday I connected the battery pulled the hazard switch they worked but the light on the tex magna wasn’t but if I moved the indicator arm into the left turn the light worked same when I moved it into the right turn but I have read and seen on YouTube that should not happen!! The little light should only flash when it’s in the off position!! I can’t work out why this is happening lol I also still can’t get the indicators to work I have done what you suggested I checked all the wires with my multimeter and there is power to them all. Would you say that the tex magna indicator is working as ithe little light flashes like I said when put into left or right turn? Then another headache that I can’t workout what the f#*% is going on is the two speed heater and the windscreen wipers they have always worked but have decided to stop working I have checked their wiring that is all good I just can’t understand why this is happening to my truck!! Am I missing something have I not checked?? I am also sorry to keep asking you these problems

There is no way I could replace the lights with led as I’m having enough problems getting the original lights to work lol. One question I have is can I put a battery charger onto the battery while I try to get the lights working? As what charge is in the battery doesn’t last long Or. Should I run the engine to keep the battery charged?
Good evening sir, I hope you remember answering some of my questions? I recently buy a smart battery charger as my old one packed up. Well it has turned out that my battery is knackered as well. I am getting a new battery tomorro. My question to you is… will I now be able to sort the front lights out now that I will have a new healthy battery so will have power do I hook up my new battery charger , as I’m still not got the indicators working lol. Not had much time on my Land Rover since our last chat apart from last week but that was waste of time. Really appreciate all your help as I do need a lot of help lol. Many thanks Mark
