Hi All
I'm rely ****ed off with this problem because it's a pain to keep changing this seal . I've fitted three non genuine seals that have all leaked all at different rates the last non genuine only leaked slightly I wish I left it at that. But then I thought I'll buy a genuine seal at about ten times the cost so it should solve my problem but it leaks more than non genuine so what a let down. There is no sign off damage or wear on drive shaft where the seal sits has anyone got over this pain in the ass problem? Is there a super dooper seal made by anyone that cures this problem I would love to know any help would be gladly appreciated or do I try second hand drive shaft and another crap seal?
Thanks everyone

There have been posts on exactly this problem so you are not on your own and not going barmy.

i cannot remember much about it but I have a feeling @sierrafery found an answer, i.e. a seal that worked and also how the problem comes about.
But as for the "genuine" seal, I'd send it back demanding reimbursement.
Do hope you find a solution.

Sorry you've had so much aggro. That was one of the first jobs I had to do on mine back in 2021 & I think it was NAK seal I used on SF's recommendation & it's been fine since. As said I did go over the shaft sealing area with some fine wet n dry. If I can find the receipt for the seals I'll post it up, all the best.

Thanks Andy will try a nak next time

No problem my mate. Are the seals sat flush with the outer casing or set back. Landrover had a habit of setting seals into some casings by 4-5mm and then some sat flush with casing faces🤔

Are you putting a touch of grease on the inner lip before assembly?
The argument is that if you use oil it can create a gateway for oil to escape and that before we get to ptfe plastic seals and their dry resting period😵

It's the seals, they are rubbish, it's quite well documented for years.
We fitted "OEM" both leaked almost straight away. Out of principle I made the supplier refund the money.
Bought 2 NAK seals, damaged one as they are a very tight fit into the axle tub. Fitted the spare one and it's been fine since.
Of course I also found out this info when I was in the same position as you.
