Hello all,
Well I spent my first years on the road in an old mini and now being able to afford the insurance at the wee age of 21 I've just bought myself a 1986 110 panel van. Its green and needs some tarting up for the MOT but apparently £1000 gets you something like this :D and I cant wait to drive it!

Well at least you'll be used to slow noisy British engineering at its finest!! Oh and the rust. Lots of rust.

haha Well this one certainly has the rust, I think it may be in a race with my Mini to see which can decompose the quickest. i havent even got it home yet either!

Cheers all for the welcomes! The landy should be arriving at its new home around midday tomorrow.

Its just the D4 engine I believe, I might look at doing a Td conversion depending on how it goes. The main task at the moment is to get it back on the road before the gearbox on my Mini blows up.

Crikey.. That my old Landy.. Is it still done up as a camper in the back..?
I sold that on ebay a few years ago for £640. It needed a new chassis.

haha no way? Apparently it was last on the road in 2010 according to the tax disc, the chassis need some welding but not compleatly replacing i dont think. also the back is empty and painted in grey. were you the one who painted it green?:D

@simon- the mini is a 95 sprite spi on its last legs :p

Yeah, It looked good freshly painted. It was brown, then I painted it red. Didn't like that, so went lime green.
The chassis was pretty much shot when I sold it, so it must of been patched up a lot or swapped for a better one..
I really miss that old girl. It was won of the most reliable cars I have owned. I used to drive it from Sussex to Cornwall a fair bit and never had any problems. That engine is superb. It will take you some time getting used to how slow she is, but that was never an issue for me. Even not having power steering was ok in it.

This was her in original colour..

Then in red..

Then she became the Lime Rover..

I had the back done out as a camper. Can't find a pic of it completed, but here is a half done shot..

I hope you have as much fun in her as I did..

I most certainly will have fun :) im guessing the chassis were replaced as theres no evedence of patching. and that amazing insied is all gone im afraid :(

I hope you dont mind me asking a few questions as appart from some old MOT's i didnt get any history with it. the last mot i have with it is 2005 when it was red. do you remember what year you sold it? and did you fit the checker plate trim and side steps?

I sold it in 2008. The guy that bought it said he had a mate that did chassis's, so he must of sorted it then.
I never had any history with it when I bought it. Its an old Council van. I bought it from a guy in Eastbourne, or somewhere around that way (it was his dog that chewed up the driver door card, if its still like it). He said he had looked after it. I believed him and it proved true. I will have a load of maintenance bills for it somewhere in my old accounts, and I gave all the old MOT's to the buyer.
I looked after it too, changing the oil n filters every 6 months etc, but moving to Cornwall cost me money and my wages halved, so I could not afford a new chassis and sadly she had to go.
I did not put the chequer plate or steps on, but she looks good for it..

haha yep the door card is still ripped XD.
I bought it from a garage in little haywood who were selling it on behalf of an older gent who had it stored since 2010.
shes on 130k now and the replacement chassis needs a couple of small patches, a rear cross member, a few bushes here and there and just a genral tidy up.

You can rest easy knowing that she has gone to a good home, She will be back on the road and you may even see her in Cornwall during summer :) (and its staying green!)

also if you are willing to share a few more photos id be more than happy to see them :)

I am glad she has gone to a good home, its great seeing her again. I just showed you're pic to my girlfriend and it made her cry, cos she loved that car too. We had many adventures in it..
The paint was a dulux one in the fresh range. I might be able to find out exactly which one if you want.
This is a great forum for info. Just do a search or ask if you have any problems, someone will know.

Those photos are brill :) Ill be sure to keep you up to date on the repairs as she once more gets the love and attention she deserves :D

This really has made my day ... I used to have an old ex-army landy back in the mid '70's and I have been desperately trying to find photos of it to get the reg no and see if she's still on the road today.

This bit of nostalgia has got me hunting again.
