freestyle/firestyle wheel question

Hi,

Looking to buy new wheels for my defender 90, to go with tubeless bf goodrich all terrain tyres.

Have decided to go with alloys, and have been looking at the freestyle and the firestyle - they look pretty similar. Any advantages of one over another?

The advantage of the Firestyle over the Freestyle is that the former fits earlier vehicles with drum-braked rear axles without modification whereas genuine Freestyle's will not.
Neither will allow you to fit centre-caps on earlier vehicles unless you fit spacers in which case Freestyle's will fit anyway.

Does anybody have any pictures that show the differences between the Freestyle and Firestyle alloys? They look very similar to a novice like me!

The differences are on the rear, from the front they look identical.
Most that you come across will be genuine Freestyle or cheaper copies. A firestyle would be sold as such by a seller (unless they didn't know what they had) as they are bought by people who want that wheel for a specific fitment so would either hold on to them or sell them clearly advertised as Firestyles and probably command a better price.

Hi, another thing to bear in mind is the Freestyle can only be used on a Land Rover 90.
You can't use them on a 110 due to the weight restriction ( payload) of the Freestyle.
Which could be a problem if you want to sell them later.
I don't know what the max payload is for the Firestyle.
I have a set of Freestyle which I bought but can't use them on my 110.
And yes it does depend on which type of hubs you have on your Landy.

Josie is fitting them to a 90 but you are quite correct, the Freestyle is not rated for a 110 whereas the Firestyle is.
