Do you have an impact driver? (one of those things you hit with a hammer and it turns a socket a bit)

I appreciate you probably can't take a sledgehammer to it - but might just crack it to start moving.

The nut is off but the bolt has no intention of turning, even with an impact driver (240V) one. The head was rounding off on me.
 
Soak in plus gas, or heat it up. If it's in position where you can do it, put a ring spanner on and jack up end of spanner. Weight of car should crack the bolt. Or breaker bar. Or shock it off with hammer and chisel.

Can you weld? If so weld some flat bar on and tap round with a lump hammer.

Mega Tip: I when straight for the jugular and undid the carrier brearing at the back of the wish bone and took the lot off. It was sooooooooo much easier ;-)

 
Sorry, should have said it's the rear wheel wishbone bolt I'm talking about.
And as for bodgit and leggit they're well named. I followed his guide on changing the fuel filter (rear wheel) and his method is a load of crap. It is way easier if you do it from the wheel arch.
Edit: Currently drowning my sorrows in a nice glass of red but it's only Friday here. :confused:

Ah it would help if you used the correct terminology (Face palm) Right there is not rear wish bone on the Freelander. You have three bars (I think its getting late) Which connect the stub axle to the rear sub frame. See pic. Which bit are we talking about??

Any day is a good day for a glass of red :) Especially if its an Ara Resolute Pinot Noir 2012 - I'm no wine snob - but that is just in a different class!

I agree with the Bodgit videos - absolutely useless. If they do happen to do anything right, it is a sheer fluke!

Just dropped my Mrs and daughter up at the airport on their way to Auckland for an S Club concert - not 7, not 6, billed as S Club 3 but announced yesterday that Jo's in hospital - so its an S Club 2! Still - they're up in Auckland and son's not around, so got the house to myself for the weekend - result. Well me and the dog - but he's easy maintenance :)

To be sure...... but with the limitations of what is in effect text messageing on the tinternet you have to be a bit clearer. Can you post a pic of the bit you need help with at all? have you used any loosen juice or heat to free it up?

I'm defo no wine snob, it's a bottle of cheap plonk from Lidle but still very nice.
Enjoy your weekend Grumpy, So far I've managed to replace the LP fuel pump but this bolt is doing my head in. Hopefully a bit of heat will get it loosened tomorrow.
 
Wine/Beer/Stout I drink them all. Trying my hand at Cognac tonight (I am getting old you know) Any how Bodit do alright for me as he has go me out of a jam or two like Chris Fix and others. The point is what works for you works for you. Use the force Luke. We are not the evil empire trying to out wit you :confused:

Any drink is a good drink - just don't buy the cheap stuff from Lidl - its rubbish, only alckies buy that stuff.

Have you seen the Bodgit viedo on splitting the props/changing the carrier bearings? Pi$$ing in the wind!

Where I come from the alkies drink Buckfast, posh folk drink wine (any colour or price)
 
Yes Yes its all to be taken with a pinch of salt/snuff. If it works, Does the job, Gets you out of a jam, I am good with it. If you wanted perfection then take it to a stealers/get ****ed at the drive thru/Give unto caesar what belongs to caesar etc etc.
Now i am going into a booze comma and a warm wench and a warm bed beckon thee for tomorrow I have work to do on my own joloppy so I bid you Sirs a good night.
 
Had a think about it and have decided to weld the nut onto the end of the bolt so I can get some purchase on it. I probably should have done that before cutting the bolt in the middle and then would have been able to give it welly from both ends but will give this a try and report back later. I can still do it this way on the other side.
 
OK, quick update. Welded a nut onto the end of the bolt and it worked a treat. the heat seemed to help release the bush from the bolt too so managed to get everything off on one side and new poly bushes fitted.
The old bushes came off relatively easily by heating up the centre with the welder until it was hot enough to burn it's way out, then the rubber came out without too much effort. The outer part of the bush was a pain but a couple of slots cut in with a hacksaw weakened them enough they weren't too bad.
Had lunch now so going back out to do the other side. :)
