What faults have you encountered on your FL1

sunroof will tilt but not slide back it seems to be stuck on one side. also think / hope its just the clutch release bearing needs replacing. XEi 1.8 2000 model freelander.
 
Hi all,

Just to add to my list of faults that have occurred over the last two months on my 04 TD4 39000 miles.

1. starter motor solenoid contacts, replaced contacts £25.

2. Ignition switch, replaced £15.

3. VCU seized, removed complete prop shaft with VCU (Mondo mod) and it will stay that way.

4. Brake light switch, replaced £9.
 
Had it about a year now,

1. VCU Buggered
2. 2x Front Drive Shafts
3. 2x Rear Link Arms
4. Exhaust Center Pipe
5. HDC, TC, ABS Warning Lights (3 Lights of death)
6. Power Loss on Engine Light
7. Built in pool (Rear door seal)
8. HDC Switch Broken Cables
 
51 reg V6 53000 miles had it from new

1. Sun roof on one side, repaired it
2. VIS rattle, needed new manifold
3. Rear diff front mounting, replaced
4. Tailgate handle came off in my hand, currently bodged back on
5. Leaks from thermostat housing etc., replaced
6, Other side of sunroof just broke, will have to repair !!!!!
I don't think I have done to badly and hope it stays like that.
 
R reg diesel 125000 miles
1.Stuck in rear wheel drive
2.Some times the solenoid sticks
3.Rear door needs a good push to shut
4.Alarm makes a funny bleeping noise
5 Rear diff clunks
6 Does 40+ to the gallon
7 Front brakes sticking
Other than that i have not even lifted the bonnet

I may even check the oil next month
 
53 plate TD4.

This week, low power, would not rev above 3000rpm, engine malfunction light flicker. Fault rear fuel pump o/s/r wheel arch, cost £169 + vat and fuel filter cost £15 + vat, £209 in total from main stealer what a ripoff, fitted pump and filter now runs great.
 
Celenoid that releases boot door catch.

pull handle, window drops, door stays shut. . . . Took me 30 mins o get my tools in the boot for work this morning, not impressed. . . .
 
I've ticked the lot, I don't own one and NEVER will, I'm a mechanic and have several of these beasts on my books, damn good earners I can tell you. :D :D
I can't see Freelanders ever making classic status, they'll be turned into bean cans way before that.

1999 2L-series 122000 miles wife had for 4years in that time had
4 tyres
starter motor fitted myself
brake pads discs fitted myself
battery
clutch
slave master cylinder
blower motor restior
passanger door wont open must fix that
water in boot removed carpet drilled hole in floor
oil and filters every 6 months that is it not bad a

2002 td4 comercial had for 2years 85000 miles
brake light switch
brake pads and discs
oil and filters ever 6months
water in boot drilled hole
both been great on and off road and around farm

Grew up on a farm in Norn Irn so happy with a spanner in my hand,at the mo we have three off road bikes to keep me busy.But never did much electrical stuff except wire a radio.

2001 TD4
Water came in through interior light from new;
MAF replaced under warrenty;
Various trubo/inlet hoses replaced under warrenty;
Auto gearbox went after 40k miles (3 years and 9 months!); dealer got LR to cough up 75% of cost of new one (£2800 + VAT + fitting);
Intercooler hose now gone for second time;
Still have loss of power at mid revs - suspect turbo;
Break pads last < 12k miles
