Was driving the other day car stopped withmesage reduced engine performance thenstarted again tuck to local garage said camshaft sensor got one of those put it on startedthen did the same won’t start now justcranking any ideas?Please

Are you sure the diagnostic said camshaft sensor, and not crankshaft sensor?
The crankshaft position sensor fails often, the camshaft sensor only fails if its been fitted incorrectly.
I'd replace the crank position sensor, and also make sure the camshaft sensor has been installed as per LR instructions.

I keep a spare crank sensor in my FL2, under the boot floor, along with a 10mm spanner to fit it.

Yes Sory crank position sensor we replaced that it ran then got the same reduced engine performance
I'd check to see of the replacement crank sensor has failed. The plugs seem to go faulty, which I believe damages the sensors, causing them to fail quickly.
 
On many vehicles a failed crank sensor can be seen by when cranking the rev counter doesn't move, if that happens on the fl2 I don't know.
Ideally while in fault to check the signal at ecu with oscilloscope, rather than moving connectors that could be suspect.
 
What was the end result with this? My 2007 Fl 2 has intermittent running/starting problem which I suspect is with either the camshaft or crank sensor. J
The crank sensor and or its plug are known weak points on these, probably because the poor thing gets sprayed by water thrown from the front wheel, because LR didn't extend the arch liner to below the bottom of the engine. Stupid idea IMO.

Thanks for that. I presume it is worth getting the wheel and inner wheel arch cover off for a clean up plus contact spray before doing anything else?

It's not uncommon for the plug to have a poor connection with the sensor, as the sensor pins seem to come in different thicknesses, where wider pins then stretch the plug receptacles, meaning thinner pins on other sensors don't connect at all, or cause bad connections causing that sensor to fail quickly.
