Hi
After visits to agents a Conrad Anderson rev speed limiter was fitted from new as it was first bought as a business vehicle. Had it removed all problems sorted
Many, many thanks for all the valued advice

That's interesting to know. I was on the right lines with lack of power causing loss of high gears instead of a gearbox fault. There was an option on the uk FL2 for a speed limiter but its not a popular item to fit on uk cars. They're more often fitted to commercial vans.

Good evening, I have exactly the same fault and just read this thread. My FL2 has the usual cruise control fitted would it also have the Conrad Anderson system also fitted? So far I have replaced the throttle body as that was suggested to be at fault. When removed I found the unit full of oil ? Replacing the body didn’t rectify the fault. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Since new I had a concerning problem with my Freelander 2 auto.

When hot and stationary, releasing the brake would intermittently cause a really hard shift into drive - as though I had just received a severe rear end impact. Unless caution was taken, the car would jump forward around a foot!

Numerous requests for the LR main dealer to investigate, always came back with 'no fault found'.

Then I stumbled across TSB LTB00782v3/2015 dated 1st October 2015. It describes the symptoms exactly (although in politically subdued terms) and applies to thousands of Freelanders and Evoques.

It's a transmission software update.

Why the dealer claimed to be unaware of the issue is beyond me as it applies to so many cars.

I asked that this update be performed and since it was done, the car has behaved impeccably.

They charged me £150 for the pleasure which I objected to as the fault was clearly there from new, but I lost that battle.

However, it turned out to be money well spent.

This bulletin covers other manifestations of transmission problems so might be worth following up for the some of the issues described earlier in this thread.
