First thoughts are, your car is 3 years old it should have a 3 year old (working) gearbox, a reconditioned (working) one with a years warranty doesn't seem a bad offer.
But from LR own admission they have an issue that should have been delt with earlier this year that MIGHT have prevented yours from failing, someone with better legal knowledge would be able to tell if they are legally rather than morrally reponsible.
LR do have the habit of contributing the repairs for vehicles just out of warranty - depends on the dealer/circumstance, it's possible they have "offered" 66% of the cost and your dealer is taking up the slack by interpreting this as a reconditioned box?
