Hi my first post here, just bought a Freelander 1 TD4 5 door today for my wife and it's missing the O/S/F outer door rub strip trim. The guy Iv bought it off said that he did source a replacement but when it arrived it was a hideous rubber strip. I was wondering if any one on here would know where I could get my hands on a genuine Land Rover replacement?

Do you need the whole set or just part of the set? The individual parts may be available still (they were for a 3 door when I looked earlier in the year (check albrit.de for part numbers under the accessories section) - fortunately I saw a genuine set brand new turn up on eBay so got those. Buying brand new individually was quite pricy. So started to consider secondhand or using some dental floss and a hairdryer (which we all have in the glovebox of course ;-) ), and carefully removing some off one that was being broken. The replacement doublesided tape is readily available on eBay if you go that route.

Thanks for the info Jim I only need one strip currently and I believe the part number is STC7867.

If it's no longer available separately, it's going to be a case of keep looking on eBay, or see if you can get something half decent from a breakers

There's one available on eBay but it's in Romania and with the shipping will cost about 50 quid, does this seem like a reasonable price to pay for a part that's hard to come by ?

The problem with that BM part from Rimmers is that it's not genuine. I ordered one from them for my 3 door. It turned up and seems basically like rubber cable covering for floors to stop trips. With a bit milled out for the door recess. And a rounded bit poorly glued on for the end pieces. I was very disappointed with the look and quality. Which is why I held off from using them, and managed to eventually find a genuine kit for £40 on eBay brand new. ( I think there is another post about how poor the Bearmach version is on here somewhere).

When the original parts were available they were about £30 each. Making the cost of a full genuine kit look good value.

Should you buy it? If the cosmetics are important to you, then you'll have to do some hunting around or be patient for a genuine part/kit to come up. If not, it's a breakers job, which I'm sure could not charge too much, and you'll just have to get the tape to reapply it onto your door. If it were me, I think I'd be looking at that option to get a part to match the rest of the rubbing strips.

My car has the original dealer-fit body kit fitted. It's sooooo bad it is almost good in a strange Retroride kind of way. I am going to keep them on I think (but wouldn't be sad if they fell off).

The one big cosmetic problem is that it makes the car look under-wheeled on standard 16" alloys and tyres. Hmm. I find myself really fancying fitting modular steelie wheels now!

Iv managed to get the pice down a bit and just bitten the bullet and ordered the genuine Land Rover part i found on eBay from Romania. I don't mind spending the money to make it right. Now to decide if I should blank the EGR off or not ? Opinions welcome?
