Freelander 1 Boot Full of water - Clips needed!?

Hi Guys

Youve all been so really helpful so far with my multiple Freelander issues!
So, Ive got a boot full of water - the recess where the tools sit - its literally swimming.
After doing some online digging Ive remove the carpet and reset the boot seal which seems to have come away but otherwise looks in good condition.
The problem is I need the clips in the photo to pull the trim back in line, I think this is probably the cause of the issue.
Does anyone know where I can get both the hooks and the bit that clips into the metal? Mine seems to have 3 missing!
Ive added a picture of the clips!

Thanks in advance! If this doesnt work I will just drill a hole!

They're available from LR and other places too, but they won't cure the leak. The FL1 was known for leaking into the boot cubby (normally referred to as the fish tank), from several locations, or not at all, depending on the vehicle.

Mine FL1 doesn't leak at all, but my last one leaked from so many places, I couldn't find them all.

Sometimes drilling a small hole in the cubby bottom is the only way to stop it filling. ;)
 
Mine has a small tear in the rubber seal around the window that I think is the culprit on mine. But I think the solution is to drill a drain hole!

How big a hole do you guys drill? 5mm?

have you done this before - where did you drill? I may have a go at this at the weekend (and take pictures) ;)

Yes I did it on my V6, although I later fixed the leak, as I wanted to put a sub in the cubby. The V6 rear box is larger than the 1.8 box though, so it might be difficult to hide the hole on yours, not that it's really an issue.
 
I drilled mine at the lowest point in the corner, lowest point visable when carpet lifted. 5mm hole seems to do the job and not noticeable. I also have one of those moisture/ damp catchers you can get for 99p in the car, to help my windows from steaming up.
 
Oops - ran out of time this weekend - where does time go???

Also, how to prevent muddy water getting in? A little rubber flap on the underside perhaps?

A good way of recouping some of the costs I agree :)

I keep dallying with the idea of building a Lotus 25 inspired kit powered by electric pixies - so very interested to see how this goes!

Hello, I am a new member too going by the name Buttonman. In my intro I described how I managed to stop leaks from the rear door seal on a Freelander 1 I had just bought. I cut away the carpet in cubby hole so that any puddles could be dealt with quickly. So far it has kept dry. The complicated bends and tubes on both sides of the door seal need to be cleaned of sediment. Have a look at the doorframe seal in bottom rh corner. That tends to be pushed off the flange by the corner of the door letting water in. That needs to be pushed back on and glued in place. Have a look at my intro and see if something there is useful.

Hi, the boot hook p/no is AWR4375PUY (black) £2 & the retainer LR004797 52 pence both inc. vat but as others have said won't help with your mobile fish tank.
 
Water can also get into the fish tank through the non existent seal around the edge. It is spot welded to the boot floor and I presume LR did something to seal around the edge but I'm blowed if I can see it.

Edit: Nope, nothing, nada. I've just removed the fish tank to make way for batteries and there was no sealant of any kind around the edges. There was a little underseal in the general area but not enough to stop it leaking. :eek:

I have been working for months to eradicate leaks on my Freelander 1. Got rid of them all, the last one being the tailgate door seal. People on here say that particular seal never leaks, that is crap, it does, especially in the bottom right hand corner where the seal is flattened by the door. I got a replacement seal, but never used it. I cut the fitted seal high on the right hand side and fed some rubber bungy cord into it which bulked the seal out. Leak gone and door closes just the same. I will post the leaks I sealed with some pics later on.
