A similar thing happened to me a few years back. Vacuum gauges to set up 4 cylinder bikes, a free to use forum tool supplied by me just pay the postage and return when finished with it. It did around 20 'lends' before some tw@t decided to keep it and run away.
There is still a chance with the crank tool, maybe he got run over or something.
