if yu want, i could give him yo number or email?

sure I don't know what he has learned along the way, but tips are handy.
the alternator output bolt fouls the steering box so I need to find another alternator or get creative- just reworked the battery terminal tapping the thread further down and cut the isolator which had boot moulding down,so it now looks more European and managed to shave 10 mm off stud length.
Tomorrow I will see if it fits- otherwise an alternative will be needed

hi I have found
av mountings | eBay asking if they can do a suitable rated mounting for my application.

much to my disappointment it looks like the engine needs to go up- in effect giving a lift scenario to transfer box output flanges- looked at exhaust and that looks not too bad until 2 into 1

Sounds about right, interested to see what they come back with. Lifting the engine... Is it a clearance issue? If so where? For instance most surfs get a 2inch body lift before install but you might be able to mount it lower by fitting a front/rear hanging sump or modifying the current one. FYI If you need wiring diagrams or detailed info on the 1UZ-FE swap I can ask Vince (BUSHWHACKER) in the above hyperlinks as he is a dab hand at these now and may even have a complete wiring loom (may need to be modified a bit for your purposes though).

ls400 has front sump ( there is more to it than just sump plate) soarer is rear sump, but not as rear as you would expect and they go for £150 as hard to come by so I read.

I had hoped to leave crank line in original place, but this means either lifting it and handling like a pig or lifting front of engine- preferable as it brings cast engine mounts almost more reasonably in line, but makes prop angles more acute.
Alternator will have to shift to region of original power steering pump on lexus.

I have 1997 us diagrams, near but not perfect as it is a change over from rectangular to bubble shaped headlights, if your friend has more accurate diagrams that would be great- my basic loom is about 90% done now and may need shortening or lengthening.

I know nothing about these, but could you not go for a dry sump, or is that ridiculously expensive?

a possibility, the sump is the pan then there is an aluminum part like the crank web on the k series, a baffle plate of sorts- to change from front to say rear needs all of above plus oil pick up and dipstick.

the best rework is a new casting of 12101 to delete the steel sump pan 12102A- seen this done on my travels on on internet but expensive.
the cheaper versions have combined the steel and alloy parts and have no size gain.

space wise I don't really have it for a scavenge pump.

nice link and shopping list, the only ones I found in a land rover they seem to be reluctant to say what they did and share ideas

Looks fun that :D

Is your ECU imobilised IE doesn't work without the LEXUS key?

As yours is a 97 will need to know either the colour of the last wire (pin 28) on the 28 pin ECU plug or the ECU number (89661-?????).

if interested you can unplug the wiring loom and send it off, £95 will get a virtually plug and play engine loom?

Cheers,
Ali

Yes I have transponder, cruise control and using auto box.
my ecu is a 89661-50351
34p 22p 16p 28p
pin 28 is blue with yellow tracer
the car did not have traction control or air suspension, as a watch note the Celica's etc have same plugs and different pin out so care is needed when swapping ecu as pins reversed

If the guy will wire loom to include engine, cruise and auto box- rather than just 5 wires, then let him do it for that price

Or a stud adapter
