When people do conversions they don't put pictures and seem reluctant to say how they have done it, but I'm all for solutions
Sounds about right, interested to see what they come back with. Lifting the engine... Is it a clearance issue? If so where? For instance most surfs get a 2inch body lift before install but you might be able to mount it lower by fitting a front/rear hanging sump or modifying the current one. FYI If you need wiring diagrams or detailed info on the 1UZ-FE swap I can ask Vince (BUSHWHACKER) in the above hyperlinks as he is a dab hand at these now and may even have a complete wiring loom (may need to be modified a bit for your purposes though).
I know nothing about these, but could you not go for a dry sump, or is that ridiculously expensive?
Hyperlink to the Parts list for a hilux conversion, nice pics of the previous builds as well.

As far as I know every build has required custom mounts made up so can't really help on that.
nice link and shopping list, the only ones I found in a land rover they seem to be reluctant to say what they did and share ideas

Looks fun that
Is your ECU imobilised IE doesn't work without the LEXUS key?
As yours is a 97 will need to know either the colour of the last wire (pin 28) on the 28 pin ECU plug or the ECU number (89661-?????).
if interested you can unplug the wiring loom and send it off, £95 will get a virtually plug and play engine loom?
Cheers,
Ali
