Ahh, my VIN is VA
I assume later than VA104806? In that case I take it back and you may have the later wiring and 'ECU. Obviously your 96 is a youngster compared to my 96! One thing about the vid clip, it does prove you have power to the switch as the warning light comes on when you operate it. Will have a look/think tomorrowJust had a look at the V5, it was registered 17/12/1996
3rd Aug 96 for mineJust had a look at the V5, it was registered 17/12/1996
Aye, it's an old timer3rd Aug 96 for mine
Sound advice. If it turns out to be the switch I'll get a Lucas. CheersIf your switch turns out to be a little bit suspect and you end up replacing it get a Lucas one. I cannot stress this enough, the may be a little more expensive but they are worth it. I have just spent two days with a friend trying to sort his indicators/hazzards, we traced the problem and thought it was the switch so replaced the switch (cheap one) and did not solve the probelm. Two days of pulling ti apart and failing to find the problem later he put it into the garage as he needed it to tow later in the week. £250 later and the problem was the switch and the new one was also faulty. Was remedied after much fault finding by the garage by them fitting am genuine lucas one.
Two!It'd be easy just to bypass the switch. If the fog lights then work you know it's the switch at fault. How many wires go into the back of the switch?
Yeah, that's right. I was just about to go and short those two wires!Thinking about it, if you only have two wires going into the back of it, then the switch must be working fine, otherwise the dash light wouldn't change.
I'm sure I've tried it with the engine running, but I'll go and try again. The garage must know that, you'd thinkAnother observation - on my TD5 the headlights turn off when the engine is switched off, even if you leave the switch in the 'on' position, presumably to make it less likely that you'll flatten the battery by accident. Does your +12v at the switch depend on whether the engine is running? Obviously the TD5 is different but it might be what your so-called ecu is doing in the circuit.

Brown wins the prize for being fog light smarty pantsCould be worth a try just in case.
