Ok so i have a 110 DC, the floor and carpet have seen better days and this coupled with me accidentally setting fire to the old fitted carpets while welding led me to re-do the interior a bit, so i put down camping mats and bought carpet and cut it to fit, looks ok, nothing special but grand.
But since then ive been doing a lot of off roading and the carpets are taking a hammering, so i want a more durable approach, and am thinking of using thread plate, anyone done this or have any pictures of it done?
also how should i tackle around the gearbox tunnel?

any thoughts? :)
 
Whatever you use you're going to have to be 'creative' around the tunnel.
Instead of vinyl have you looked at rubber (OOOO MISSUS) No, I was thinking of the sort of stuff that they use in stables etc. If it'll stand up to great lumps of mobile cat food trampling about in iron shoes it should do what you want, and give a fair bit of heat and noise insulation.
 
used to have 20mm in the back of the 90.. great stuff :D
i got a load of 20mm playground matting that goes in the back of the 90 when me van roofs on. makes a load of difference and its designed to drain water thru so you dont get puddles;)
 
Why do you need matting anyway, as you have pointed out it holds moisture, promotes corrosion etc so why not just leave the standard floor-plates & tunnel in place and be done with it?
None of my LR's over the past 25-years have had any kind of carpet and it has never been an issue when it comes to cab comfort etc. The cab still gets toasty in the winter and I can hose it out without any worries.

The photos of my 90 shown below were taken earlier this year and show the condition of the bulkhead & floor after 12-years of use, what would it look like if carpets or matting were fitted trapping moisture? It's not a case of it doesn't get used, just that I can keep it clean and it drys out thoroughly.
