Hi all, I have just bought a 2002 TD5, it has a flat spot from roughly 1500rpm up to roughly 2100rpm, before and after this it's fine.......will a good dose of injector cleaner help out or is it something deeper??
Also it has damp and slightly mouldy headlining......any obvious places I should be looking??

Hi all, I have just bought a 2002 TD5,

1. it has a flat spot from roughly 1500rpm up to roughly 2100rpm, before and after this it's fine.......will a good dose of injector cleaner help out or is it something deeper??

2. Also it has damp and slightly mouldy headlining......any obvious places I should be looking??

Re your questions:

1. This is consistent with normal TD5 operation although it is sometimes improved by:

Renewing the air filter &

Cleaning the MAP sensor on the inlet manifold. I use aerosol brake and clutch cleaner on it.

2. Leaking sunroofs almost certainly. The only real way of curing any leaks is to take out the headliner and re-seal the sunroof cassette units. It's the seal between the roof outer and the cassette that fails. Use Sikaflex 221 and it'll be fine.

The flat spot is awful and ruins the car but they are all the same until you have them re mapped. I had dynachip do mine and the difference is amazing but there are many that do re mapping.

Ok, cool, thanks guys..........the flat spot is proper annoying but I'll have a look at all those bits
