Have my 2004 td4 with p1190 constantly causing problems and any pointers would save a hot bath & razor blade! I've been reading most of the faults found and must say that the folks on here are brilliant-just one more glimpse of cleverness and we can fix this. The car revs freely out of gear up to 4500rpm and the linkage to the turbo is moving as it should. But the car gets to 1800rpm when driving and falls over and the engine management lamp comes on and stays on until reset with ignition. I've checked the injectors & leak off. Changed the fuel rail sender & loom repair section (and tightened the spade connectors). Replaced the HP fuel regulator. Replaced the fuel lift pump (2nd one as the first new pump was so noisy) & the filter. Filled the filter with injector cleaner and tried that. Checked all the vacuum hoses and operation of the actuators (turbo & EGR) which are working, although the EGR is stiff when working. When I replaced the HP regulator the car drove 6km as opposed to the 2km when the lamp comes on. I'm now thinking it could be the MAF (where do you buy the torx to undo the security screws?) Ive also had to clean out the sender in the inlet manifold which was gummed up with solid oil. It seems that the problem comes in after the engine has warmed up just a little. Sorry to have taken up so much of your time if you've been kind enough to read this, but I'm at the end of my tether. Just to say the local French Land Rover dealer was also stumped and the only suggestion they had was to replace components until they solved it-obviously using my money for their research. C'mon clever folks, what do you think?
