Fitting defender 90 parts

Why not just get a defender or a 90 then.... whilst I can perhaps understand changing the doors (although potentially very expensive) why lose all the stuff what gives the Series 3 its character.
Still it's your truck.. so you do exactly what you want with it and don't let miserable old gits like me sway you

I'm assuming he's either winding us up or very stupid. If you want a Defender buy a defender don't vandalise a proper car.

**** off and buy a 90 if you want a 90........because even if you do that you'll still be moaning about lack of power steering, no heating, no light up dash, no sound proofing, bouncy ride and whatever else. Buy a fooking 90
No you don't need to lose the series front end to fit a V8! I've got a 7.03L V8 going into mine and I've not lost the series front!
Defender one is a little wider
Doors need the strikers changing
did not know that, just assumed it because the stage 1 had a flat front.

Looks like ive upset some folk. So im 17 looking for a series 3 cheap and easy to work with. so im just looking at what i can do with it. My dad sells land rovers and says i should buy a tdi for my 1st car since he thinks a series 3 is unreliable
Yeah series owners can be quite defensive - and for good reason, most series' are considered classics...
Personally, if you want the look of a defender, buy a defender. For what it would cost you in parts, time and effort to change a series you could get an early defender. Then you'll also get a more powerful engine, coil springs etc...
Also being 17, you've got a swift kick in the nuts coming from your insurance - don't make it worse by modding your vehicle

A tdi at 17, I shudder to think what the insurance is like on the 2.5l turbo.
I'm 18 and cheapest I can get is around £900 on a 2.5 N/A
Series 3 is only unreliable if you get an unreliable one, same with all cars, you can make them reliable, get a decent one and you'll be suprised. My granddad had his for many years with no troubles except a bit of a leak and general maintenance work (service, bearings etc).
Giving it a rebuild atm and that will be my first car
The guys in work with 90s and 110s envy it for its character

Any vehicle/ engine can be unreliable, but i doubt you will get cheap insurance with a vehicle that doesnt have the engine it was built with due to it being a modification, which if you don't declare you can wave goodbye to your cover.
