Bought a bit of nice kit from Maplin for £130.
I got with it a camera (day/night with 3 M of night vision), an LCD screen, mounting plate, wiring and remote control.
First thing to do was buy a DC power wire which slotted into the screen. This avoided the need to go through my inverter.
Then I went about fitting the lcd...

I screwed in the mounting plate to 4 areas I'd match-marked using the plates holes as a guide.
Once this was securely done the design of it allowed me to slot the complete screen into place. Handily it slides out for stowage so it's not on display for thieves.
I hooked up the camera and was impressed with the image it kicked out too :)

Next I ran the extension wire to the rear of the lannie.
Where to put the rear camera was quite easy. I'd already removed the rear wiper as the rear-wiper-motor had long since given up the ghost.
Next I removed the assembly and motor.
Then I hollowed out the inner hole so the camera housing could fit through it.
Now with the camera flush up against the outer hole with the weather grommet/seal it was fairly rain-proof.

I next got some foam pipe insulation and poked that through so there was more of a flush fit around and against the camera and outer hole too.

Finally to finish it off I cut out the plastic trim cover to fit snugly around the camera. Both insulating the back sleeping area and supporting the camera itself. :)

Here's the lcd with image from the camera:

This position allows access to the vent controls without obscuring the stereo / cd player :)

Thats excellent :) good job! Wonder it it could be mounted next to the rear wash wipe and angled down for those with spare wheels mounted on the door or on a carrier?
Could that screen be some how used for a sat nav as well?
On a lighter note....My dream would be it was fitted with a laser to kill thieving gits and record it for youtube :)

On the sat nav it won't do it alas.
It's the right angle for parking btw to the other poster but you just need to hone your distance viewing skills :)

With the auxillary battery I have there is a pet project to electrify the hull in case of car-jacking :D

Nice job:clap2:

Wouldnt mind getting one myself, but im hopeless with electrics.

Might get a forward facing camera for the wifes car. She never seems to be looking through the windscreen when she drives:D

Rear View Camera,

is it possible to do the same as you, but instead of connecting it to your separate LCD But rather so it is activated from my kenwood stereo monitor.... ????

if any one has done this as i have a 130 with a TROJAN back

thanks
rob

Hmm not a bad idea, but that screen is abit big for what you use it for isn't it? A smaller screen like a satnav size would be more practical just for reversing?

I used to work for a company with a fleet of vans with these fitted, one night they all got done by the local chavs, thinking they were sat-navs. To be fair though, we only used them for looking down ladies tops at lights.... Missed many a green light in the summer!!

Hey SASBOB,

thank for the info will have a good look through the stuff today.

just having my Chassis look at today on my 130 , as the test center in Dubai are saying that the chassis has been changed. Which is bollock's and insisting that i sand back the chassis to bare steel so that they can see the weld.

It is my understanding that a 1997 130 has a hand made chassis.

another question, why does wiltshire landy guy always give **** to people when he should have read my first posting saying that i shall have no need for my rear veiw mirror as i have a trojan back on my 130.

wiltshire landy - have a break have a kit kat.... :D

Au the best
rob
