Sounds good mate, it's a hole higher level......... Makes the Freelander sound a bit pants, but for that kind of cash you'd hope so!!

Very happy for you, but I'll stick with this little beasty for a while longer, just don't go putting silly low p tyres on it......... I can't stand that, or whats the point having a car thats 4WD only to get stuck in the snow!

Now, I hate to attempt to drag this back to something like the original thread, but here goes!
Now, I've read almost word for word up to about page 35 (of 74 currently), but I was probably going a bit stir crazy at that point. Similarly, I've tried to scan and search other threads, to no avail.

Markyzs180, you may be able to answer my question (which is related, I promise).

I've got a Freelander ('05), with HK system with 6-disc, in dash changer.
Is it easy, or not, to extract it and replace with an aftermarket stereo, in terms of wiring?
Are the connectors ISO?
I'm not after replacing speakers, sub or amps, just the head unit.

Thanks.

Mate it's easy, pull out plug in, hardest thing is unscrewing everything. I did not need an iso adapter only one for the steering wheel controls. I have the HK too and it now sounds a lot better!

Steve,

If you've got the six disc in dash you will need an iso adpater (sounds like adcooper had the becker single din unit) you will also need a fascia adapter depending on what you are fitting (single or double din) and again you'll need a steering stalk adapter and lead if you want those working.

I'll dig out the iso adpater number for you but it was only a couple of quid as its a common cable :)

nice to see the thread back up and running :)
cant believe how many views and posts have been knocked up ! lol

hope everyones keeping well, including marky ! wheres angus been then ?? :p

i'm good bud...how's you?? glad to see the thread is still getting views and helping people out, once they've trawled through all the p***taking thats in it :D

ain't heard from anguslives for a while.... could do with map update ;)

Thanks for the previous advice.

Unfortunately for me, the swap wasn't so easy!
I installed my stereo with the lead from auto leads and ended up with no sound?
Not sure what went wrong.

I can see that there's a number of wires heading off to the HK amplifier that don't have a feed now, presumably there's something else required?

The stereo powered up, but nothing else!

Anyone have any ideas?
