Had my pump rebuilt and fitted due to e a leak ran fine before and after less than 16,000
Miles and its fecked where do I stand its doing the up and down jiggy at idel took if for a 50 mile hard trip to give it a good run sat for ten minutes all was fine and again this morning its off again
Been over a year since its been done typical what was the point of a rebuild if they fail so soon!!!!
 
Mine does this when running SVO as the viscosity is different to DERV I’ve found it’s because the tank pump is struggling

Running DERV; SVO mixed with petrol; Black diesel or real bio (in summer) prevents this, but as 99% of my trips are motorway I never worry about it

So advice would be: make sure Fuel filter is clean, and all lines are too, also have a look at the in tank pump before you go blaming the FIP
 
Auto it started all of a sudden, point of a second pause once in a blue moon now its uneven but with a Rhythm if that makes sence its dies twice in idle full tank
And died once slowing down no mil light what so ever
But what I just noticed a while ago is when is does is the drivers rear Exhaust
Smokes a little then idle stables and then it disappears we got a **** hot BMW next to us at work he hasn't head it yet but reckons pump I have nothing to do with him just a kind of work Colleague on our premises maybe I should just plug in and check with the smoke comming out that I didn't notice before as I was standing behind it when it happend I was thinking hopefully an injector ?

Sounds familiar, I have this issue, but only when not on DERV

Cloud of Black smoke on start up and bad tick over, feel like it will cut out?

Cleaned injectors, thinned the fuel and stopped the leak, everything was fine again
 
I use derv only shell infact not that matters I'm upto date with filter 1200 miles ago seems more when cold I will put some cleaner in too
I drained a little out of filter to check seemed clean yep trying to cut out
I've just been a little naughty I've noticed the rev was just under the third notch ie slightly under the 750 mark I've put a tube on the pedal to bring it Exactly in line with the third notch so far so good I guess the revs could drop over time due to worn parts in the pump?

Idle should be adjusted with diagnostics.
 
Could still be a batch of ****y fuel.

I appreciate your Optimism but filled up a tank full down to half a tank now and its going berserk cutting out when I slow Down no if it were bad fuel would it not if started ages ago ??
What I need to decide now I'd do I spend a grand on such a lovely car I know I eint get much of a car for a grand plus evey think else runs sweet now after bits here and there.

Dodgy fuel can do strange things, check for bacterial growth in the fuel filter.
I would not consider spending a penny until it had been on diagnostics, guessing is a mugs game.

I will thanks for,peace of mind fuel pipe has no bubbles or discolour tho.

Id put money in it but lets see
Watch this space lucky I got a series as a spare car .....
 
I have just had trouble with the in tank pump and had to get one grafted on from a Lada as i was in Russia but now I can only run with a tank above half full and presume there is a leak in the pick up pipe .
have got a new pump and will fit it tomorrow if not raining .
when Ive sorted the car after a mad dash across Russia again might tell you all about that trip where something different went wrong every day and still had to get 4000 miles in 10 days before my visa ran out.

And this was causing poor idle or just poor running as I have poor idle and cutting out in idle but good running say above over 1000 rpm and normal driving conditions its only when it comes to a rest problems start
I've yet to test my intank pump I shall wammers test and and also add power To intank pump to test that flow is constant .


Wammers I absolutely sure its the Quantity Servo if I turn it up via diagnostics will it over come this shortfall for a while untill things get worse ??
And I guess increasing the throttle pedel is not the same as increasing the ECM fuel settings ??

You have no real evidence that it's the quantity servo, but it's your money.
