What I think would be much more useful is to hear from those members who didn't attend. It would really help to get an idea of what the reasons were...honestly....just to see if we can address some of those issues. Know some had plans or were working but what about the rest of you ?

well hopefully i will be there for the next party as things are on the up for me at the minute.will still need some help but not as much.:):):)

1. We've done work and maintenance on Landies on the club stand at shows before, that's worked quite well.
2. The organisers would have to know first :p
3. Did want to do this and probably would have if my ebay account wasn't on hold so bought single malt instead of trophies with a donation.
4. Get it sorted then :p
5. Put a fair bit of thought and effort into this one but didn't get very far. Hoping with the feedback that more will see it really is intended as a family event rather than a tratterer mudfest.

WLM......toons were spot on and gave just the right atmosphere. Dunno how kariokee would go.......either with a bang or with a soggy flop, difficult to say

bb,did you enjoy my donation,hic.:D:D:D

Defiantly don't need a tannoy. An a4 bit of paper and some talking would make it better but in a way I liked the stand around at the marquee untill something happened approach. It ment I met more people!

3 reasons:

1) distance - Along way to, prospectively, get a broken motor back home.
2) accommodation - some of us will not camp.
3) timing - the wife is heavily involved in elections at this time of year.

a bi-annual event in 2 different location would be a good idea, particularly with a choice of accommodation.

Valid issues.

The prospect of damage was one of the reasons laning was kept gentle (that and its the nature of the landscape) but it was a dfferent matter for those that went to the p&p.

We (actually 110w) got info together about alternative accommodation and there was the possibility of a discount although as we didn't have any inquires we didn't follow this through in the final stages which perhaps we should have.

Can't really do much about number 1 or 3 but as for no 2 there were hotels sourced less than 4 miles away .

I didnt say you could.

yu asked for feedback - i gave you feedback.

No1 & 3 could be changed. different place and time.

I guess the things we need to know are which factors affect individuals. ...and I guess they will differ for each person but trying to get a common theme...so thank you. Keep em coming everyone else

same here, distance (though that isn't too bad) and timing.

i'd probably need a year to plan time to do it. fix the landy, arrange time off work for me and swmbo.

i'm guessing dogs would be ok?

probably teaching you to suck eggs but..

i haven't asked, but the other half might really not like the idea of spending her weekend in the defender watching a bunch of random strangers get ****ed, make in jokes and talk about landrovers. (not saying that is what happened, but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of swmbos form that impression)

if you really want to boost attendance then i think you need to make it heavily about a family event, with activities, fun stuff for kids, dogs and make landrovers secondary. basically sell it to the lzers family. just my random thoughts *shrug*

1. Camping - No hotels near enough, being 4 miles away would hardly have been the same. Yes you can get a taxi but I go for venues that have everything on site

2. That would be telling :hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi: but it was the reason a lot stayed away

It was the last game of the footy season on Sunday and I have a season ticket, so there was no way I could get there otherwise I would have been there - as long as there was cold lager / cider I would have been happy. Pictures look great.

Ha ha - no but North Yorkshire to Leics then Anfield, then back to North Yorkshire for Sunday night just would have been a pain in the behind - I had to let my daughter down too because since I have bought Daniel the Defender she is LR obsessed ....bless her! I would have had to have left at 7 on Sunday am etc etc. really would have loved to have attended.

Stop stop I'm nearly in tears here! :)

Well as BB has said to others you should be ok next year as it'll be a bit later ;)

I know this is about the event as a organiser thing, but this is what we have said WE shall do to make it a little better for us

Tarpaulin - bigger and lots of it with string and rope.
More pegs
Better beds ( this is paramount to the plan of action)
Better planning- as in local events, shops ( the onsite one didn't really stock very much ) things to do. Things to see. So while the men play laning the rest of us can do something.
Midge candles

The beauty about this site was that you weren't confined to a certain area and unable to spread out. It was big enough for the boys to have a kick around with a football without upsetting anyone or creating a safety issue. We even sat whilst having a martini and watched a little one have driving lessons all over the field. Cute. The lads brought their guitars and we didn't get any complaints ( sorry if it actually annoyed anyone, though I wasn't singing so it wasn't too bad)

All in all, apart from no schedule, I think it's what you bring with you to the party that makes it a good event. Had we done the above I would have been happy to stay for the week. I don't think you can expect LZ organisers to do everything.

Cept the cake ;)

2. Tannoy so that people no whats going on all the time rather than having to try and work it out.

A bit more interpersonal communication rather than trying to rely on the sporadic (at best) interwebs, part of my job at wicks is speaking to customers but barring three or four members I hadn't prevoiusly met, I felt uncomfortable speaking to folk (... and I very much doubt if anybody would have recognised me in person. :D).

Heheh, When I saw you start to pogo on the dance floor up close, I thought "Crikey, I may get squished here" ... but I'll certainly recognise you again .. ;)

Mind, whether I'll speak to you or not ...
