On hols in Alnwick Northumbria- driving up had to Call AA as no power up hill.
Had similar problem before but it was a loose wire....checked but ok this time.
I don’t want to buy a new turbo! Any ideas what this could be?
It come up with checking the actuator- he checked.
Got here and it’s drivable - advised take it easy and book in on return home.

Check hoses between the turbo - intercooler - inlet manifold for leaks. Check especially where the hose from the turbo is close to the knuckle joint in the steering column/rod as the knuckle can be in contact with and wear through the hose.

Hi
I have it booked in to a local garage that has some experience with defenders. So I’ll pass the advice on and it’s much appreciated.
Cheers

turbo actuators are not an unknown fail, should see the rod move as engine is revved, you can get them repaired by firms on ebay,

Well Sod’s law - they checked everything through and drove it silly for 20 miles....nothing....running well. Complimented on how well she runs. I’m guessing either it will happen again or that the AA man greasing the actuator arm has helped. The garage suggested the arm could have been sticking. Checked the loom and wiring (all fine), checked for leaks in hosing (nothing - but would show overboost anyhow).

Sounds about right!

If I knew the turbo was the only factor causing that oil collection, then probably not, but if i was just buying that turbo off of a scrap engine and saw that buildup i'd not know it occurred over such a short time frame and probably buy it anyway. Is the EGR still connected also? looks much blacker and heavier post intercooler.
Mastora, or do you not want to say? I'm just curious.

Had this on my Puma was the MAF sensor gunked up, cleaned it out was good for about a month then started playing up again, new sensor and it’s been fine for over a year!

Thanks - I thought I might replace anyway just in case. Am I correct that the sensor is on the actuator? I’m new to all this! Could you tell me the part and also point me in the general direction to replace it? Appreciated B

No it’s on the intake manifold.
