M&S lights have come on - showing 0753 fault. Changed the XYZ switch a few weeks ago but has been fine. Can clear the fault but comes back after a minute or so of driving. Any ideas?
Thank you Sierrafery - we will drop the valve block and also check the loom.P0753 is about the shift control solenoid MV1 which is in the valve block or the circuit to it(chafed loom on that path ?), the XYZ switch has nothing to do with it... if the loom is intact you can see if it clicks or not forced with nanocom or similar... unless it's a problem in the circuit between the console plug and TCU.... troubleshooting is needed
You'll decide when you get there ... i have no personal experience with thisdo i need to disconnect the gear lever cable for better access or can this be done with it in place?
that one is about the engine ECU's black plug - TCM data link which goes through that square grey connector near the ECU, white - yellow wires, eventually give it some contact spray.... nothing to do with the other codeP1843 code (can timeout monitoring) constantly
Thank you. Did actually find some oil in the grey connector and in the red plug, so thoroughly sprayed contact cleaner on both plus the black plug and of course the ECU itselfthat one is about the engine ECU's black plug - TCM data link which goes through that square grey connector near the ECU, white - yellow wires, eventually give it some contact spray.... nothing to do with the other code
Well done! Was that one of the wires in the loom near the P clip?It was indeed one pesky wire that was causing the problem. All sorted now - many thanks to all for advice!
I'm beginning to think this flipping thing is a ticking time bomb.Well done! Was that one of the wires in the loom near the P clip?
Yes, you can see it from underneath. I wrapped mine with “spiral wrap”, as an extra covering in that area before it actually damaged the loom.I'm beginning to think this flipping thing is a ticking time bomb.
Can I BA to drill the rivets out just to check it out?
It appears so often on here.....
alternatively I think it might be possible to get at it from underneath.
Might well be a plan that!!Yes, you can see it from underneath. I wrapped mine with “spiral wrap”, as an extra covering in that area before it actually damaged the loom.
