Evenin all.

Have recently spent many enjoyable hours crawling around under my Series III changing all of the tranmission oils (gearbox, transfer box, both axles) plus 4 new shocks and spring bushes.... lots of dirty fun. Now only have the Fairey overdrive oil to change.

Can anyone confirm how much oil should go back in? I suspect it ain't been changed for years (judging by the grey sh*te that came out of the transfer box).

Once the oil has been drained, remove the transfer box oil level plug, fill up the overdrive gently until the oil starts coming out of the transfer box filler plug. :)

There's a hex on the top of the fairey overdrive, that hex has a wire attached to it. Back it out, its a dip stick.

Filling till oil came out the transfer box would work but over fill the overdrive. WHich people say to do anyway.

Tried to do mine today but couldn't find the filler plug!! mine has a solid round lump cast in the casing where all the pictures show the plug?! so I unscrewed the plate on the top and sloshed about a cupfull in there, that left the level just under half way up the main shaft.-Be alright won't it? better than having phuckle in it...

about 0.4litres
the dipstick has a mark on ot about 15mm from the end but it needs to be screwed right in to measure correct level
not too critical on mine as after 50miles its pouring out the top!
