I've got a Ex MOD recon engine from Witham's (I've seen some previous comments about these engines, we'll see how we get on with it)
Before I install it into my Ex MOD Defender 90, is there anything I should do before firing it up. I know I've got to clean the fly wheel and fill it up with oil. Any other tips?

The engines dated 2011, I intend to oil the rockers and pistons before hand!

Change the cam belt, even though it has been reconned belts have a calendar life as well as a mileage limit . Generally 5 years is considered to be 'time up' for then so change it before you fit the engine for piece of mind.

Thanks for that, good idea, I look forward to removing the crankshaft pulley, good job I've got a 5ft scaffold tube to assist in the operation.
