you can pass usb stick to a vm easily.

Make sure you set date to 2023 and lock it because the software expired a month ago and it won't work.

Tried it again yesterday and these are the only snapshots I could get... then the laptop wouldnt run again for some reason. I dropped the original 360gb HDD back in and am cloning it back to the SSD again. I will leave it on Win7 Pro for now and try again later.
The BIOS shows Intel Virtualisation is enabled as is VT-d so it should be ok... I think.

I have now done a full clean install of Windows 10 and running the download all over again. I have also ordered some new RAM to bring it up to 8g. There seems to be mixed info on what VMWare 17 player needs... so I have gone for 8gb as that is the max my laptop will run. I am not sure why the system says the processor isnt compatible as it is a 4 core i7 which should be OK.. not optimal but should work accoding to the info I have seen. Will find out more when I install VM Ware I guess.

Well, looks like my Laptop has a major issue.. twice now it has shut down showing a nice blue screen with a Machine Check Exemption which apparently means a major hardware error... it was dirt cheap so it is to be expected I guess. Hmmm suggestions now being taken for a suitable Laptop to run SDD in VM Ware 
A thought... I have an Intel Macbook Air.. will the VM run in fusion on the Macbook?

I bit the bullet and downloaded Fusion 13 for personal use and loaded it up along with the required VM onto my 2013 Macbook Air and without tweaking it at all it fired straight up.. very impressive. now I just need to hook up to my RRSport and see what I can do to resolve my 3 amigos

Ah that would be an easy fix with older version of vmware player like 15 or 16 because the laptop is too old.

The next hurdle is keeping the battery at atleast 12.5v with the ignition on

yeah 10a minimum maintainer, the htrc ones are nice aliexpress amazon etc.

I have a CTEK MXS10 which has a "Supply" mode. Should be fine for what I need to do. I am pretty sure last time I had it connected I was on 12.5 with no drama. I will charge and maintain the battery for a few days before I get a chance to hook up. I have an MY20 Discovery Sport 240HSE now as well... That is my normal vehicle now. Hopefully with SDD I can code the Tow package I will be fitting soon... apparently I can also do it with my GAP tool too...
