Mine basicly looks like a pikey version of Tuskenraider's.

Your comment about Sarfari snobs made me chuckle.

Yes my top is now connected properly by was of a self tapping screw lol. All I have left to do with mine is fit a proper A pillar mount as the boot lace is getting a bit tired.

Lol your boot lace is it still there, lol, just one of those jobs to be done, or is it for the flexibilty mounting over rough ground.

Its not that pikey, we have seen loads on here a lot worse,

I must admit i dont like the look of the black blob of sarfaris, I like the tube look. I am going to have to get the sticky back plastic out again as I have torn a little piece out of my black cover, Blue Peter style.

Matt Have a look at Chris's snorkel when his about, he's like some others taken a time to work out how to do it, not just slaped it on, you could work out how to fix it to the door pillar with a braket.

It looks like its just slapped on!
The cut out on the wing looks crap cause all I had was a hacksaw.
Boot lace is still there, well actually its the second lace and I've snapped it twice but its hanging on in there!! Gonna make a bracket like the one you have on your Stu, just so I no longer have to worry about it.
Also gotta add a couple more breathers for the gearbox instead of use wading plugs.

Give you an idea of how I know it works, I took it to Essex Off Road about a month ago and whilst trying to rescue another stranded Disco in water mine got stuck. Well it actually started floating lol.
My mate had to sit in it and wait for the cabin to fill with water (up to the door handles) so it would sink to the ground and push the other Disco and itself out the water.
That caused some problems, broke both indicators, a headlight, knackered the alarm and the starter stopped working. Plus inside got very damp.

However even though the engine was completely submerged for at least 3 minutes it was completely fine and with 2nd hand 300tdi engine selling for as much as 800 notes its well worth fitting one even if you have no intention of going in deep water. You never know whats going to happen on a green laning trip for one.
Oh and the water was defently deep, with my tires and lift I reckon mine is about 6-8" higher than a standard Disco.

Yeah, apart from that you took the time to put it inside your wing, a tidy cut would of made a differance, and its easy to be criticle.

Thats only cause you run out of boot laces now, and Mike will not let you have the ones from his new boots :D

NEW BUMPER!!! It's amazing what a complaint can produce :D

So new bumper was put on a minute ago then I finally fitted the steering guard properly. All ready for some off road fun :D

Next plan is to change the cambelt. Then get the tree sliders and roof light bar sorted along with some lights. THEN add a chequer plate kit along the bottoms of the doors. THEN.... Well the list goes on

Disco is home:D:D:D:D:D:D

Anyone free for a short trip this evening?
Could do the same route as before, met at Coggeshall about 8 and finish about 10.
Stu put a good route together last time.

Lift pump changed and she spluttered into life this afternoon :D Need to take it for a drive to see if the overheating issue has been fixed but i got a warm heater after 10mins idling so looks promising :D

Just got to do the brakes now before it goes back on the road

Bumper looks good Matt, i want one of those :)

Stu
Dumb arse farmer has cut through my phone line so can only use my iPhone
For Internet
Will down load mm when back on line
Let me know by text if a laning day is happening
Cheers

Hi All thx for the warm welcome ( Im based in Chelmsford )
Just reading through the recent posts and im the same the parts list goes on and on, But the home made snorkel looks good as its on my very soon list.
I got a cheep rangy and have spent days welding but she just passed her mot only needing head light adjustment. And have also found having door seals with rubber on is much better for keeping the dirty water outside :D. Just got to try to fit the extended brake lines for this weekend and then out lanning both days hope to catch up with some off you soon

Removed EGR today and fitted intercooler pipe. What do I do with the vacuum pipe that goes onto the little spaceship thinggy? Can I stuff it up with glue? Or cap it off on the pump near the wing?

Also, is Saturday on? Need to know so I can arrange things.

Thanks guys, I will see if I can make some sort of home made snorkel jobbie if I get the time. I have some metal drainpipe but where can you get the bendy bits of pipe from? Stuff that won't make it look too much like i nicked it from behind someones toilet! lol :p:p

Nice bumper matthew

I've got a plastic U bend you can have . Also got a reconditioned timing belt if you're interested :D :D

Geoff... these farmers do all the best work, :p

Matt that bumper looks great, nice and neat. :):D and good news about the EGR, when you take the pipe out remove it and just bung the hole up at the thingy on the wing.

I just got back from work and it looks like I may have a small leak from the seal on the Rear Axel now so will have to be doing that this weekend, hey ho. :(:(

I obvisly did not make it last night, as my Daughter had here 13th B'day yesterday, but its good news to hear your discos back Nick, :):):)

Tusken, great to hear the Disco is getting better:):)

Bigg, I am glad i did not go the V8 route now, sounds nice but hey too much to run and they dont like water.

Is that a hint for an other route Nick???????, I still want to do those lanes near Stowmarket you did.

I was speaking to the Guy at Landypart at Martelsham last week and if I remmeber right they will do the timiing belt for About £150 all in inc parts and Labour

£150 far too much!! A reconditioned belt is only £1. It's a new business I'm starting alongside the reconditioned fuse enterprise and renewed matchstick business :D

Nah, I got a timing kit today and will sort it next week. Anyone local got the locking pins for a 300tdi that I can borrow??

I take it you given up on the loo roll recycling then, as its all gone down the pan now.

I think you can use a 10mm drill, shank end of course, but take it out of the drill first. :D:D:D.
