What you thinking of Guy? what you after still a landy?

What you thinking of Guy? what you after still a landy?

Still looking for a landy or a defender of course!

Just had a dilemma, do I tax the landy for 6 months or do I tax my Audi cabriolet!

The Audi won! So time to clean out truck and sell it! Then come the spring will sell the Audi as well!

Truck going on eBay tomorrow 99p start! Lol

thats good news thought we may have lost you to a pink slitty there... lol

why dont you look at what you can do to make yours more mud frendly. and just SORN it. as you have the lift, look at chris's it a monster, and gets through the mud as well.

Just need some mud tyres, big ones, and acouple more bits and bobs.

That's an odd decision Guy. You already have an ideal truck to develop into a more capable machine with a lot of bits already done.

If you can't afford a defender would you be looking for a really rough one that you don't care about damaging or a newer tidied one with less issues such as rust.

I am a bit confused?

Dude, keep it and use it as a serious mud plugger! I defy anyone who says a Disco can't keep up with a Defender in mud.
The money it would cost to buy a standard Defender would have your Disco with far more offroad parts than mine.

That will be great, thank you , I'll be round on sunday.

lol, that will be something to watch, have you got that many holes????.
Why dont you get Chris to weld in a steel panel, les chance of leaking.

Well i don't know this is the problem, gotta get the jet wash out i reckon. I'm thinking its coming through the sunroof around the drain holes and the rubber seals in those upper rear windows.

Welding is possible, however its ally which makes it much more difficult and the pannel is very thin, again not easy to weld.
Plus with the roof lining out i can see more of the roof "repair" and well i think theres alot more filler than metal on the sides lol.

Did you see the red one at Graytech? It would be cheaper to keep yours and aim for that spec. You at least have one you know has a strong engine and solid chassis.

I thought the roofs where steel, my mag becon sticks to it, I have heard that the alpine windows can leak but an easy fix there, new rubbers think they are about £14 ish.

Ask the guy, if you can have his roof of the one he is scraping, it may be a way out of it.

I'm going to my local jetwash to save putting more mud on my drive then I have a couple of jobs to do. May pop up to the barn for some company while I do them.

Need to replace my towbar electric socket plate and raise my towbar while I am doing it.

I never use it for towing but when I need pulling it is always resting on the ground.

I also need to change my rocker cover gasket and check and adjust my tappets while I am doing it.

I thought the alpine windows were leaking and removed them filled seals wiith black rtv sealant and water was still ****ing in. so stripped interior panels andd discovered that water was coming tru below windows where rear panels join the underside of the roof gutter. I filled the box section with expanding foam and the foam came thru on the outside. Poking about with a screw driver uncovered 6" long slot of rotten metal. under guitter. I've sealed it with Black RTV and it's now dry as a bone in the back.

Yer you might be right, though there is still the problem of welding thin metal lol.
Roof swap is possible but a lot of work. For now i'd be happy just to cover them up with metal and sealant.
Still liking the idea of making it into a pick up over the summer so don't want to spend too much time and money on this shell.

Cheers for the link and info Redhand i'll have a closer look at the areas under the alpine lights. Like i said don't want spend loads of money as might well end up cutting the shell up in a few months, just would be nice to stop getting wet inside everytime it rains.

Feel free to pop up Brian, should be there all day. Need to bring your own tea cup mind. ;)

I agree, the disco with mods can be as good a mud plugger, look at Chris's.

You got to look at the Defenders the other day, they where not standard ones or just had a 2" lift, it was a mixture of up's on them, must admit great tools for playing.....:D:D:D

Chris what the diff between yours and Guys?

this is all you need to make yours a serius mud pluger Guy

Set of MT tyres
Extra 2" lift, can be done with blocks - £50
Rear Trailing Arms - £100

Why do need a winch?? My disco is std apart fropm steering guard and 235/70/16 insa sahara's. Never got it stuck whilst greenlaning??

Mine is standard with just a set of AT's and it seems ok for 99% of the time (as long as my missus ain't driving :D). I dont plan on climbing mountains with it, just using it as landrover intended, and it's fine.

I'll be up Sunday with me flask and sandwiches.
