I've got a load of ropes from a group purchase that didnt work out. I have made up a few bridals myself, but obviously not rated!

if you wanted to buy a couple of ropes and have a go at splicing them yourself, its pretty easy (see youtube). Or I could do it, but no guarantees on breaking strains!

I was looking at those pictures last night on facebook, being a novice hats the best advice for going through that amount of water? is it just a case of don't stop and keep on the gas?
I need to try and get out for one of these sundays what type of tow rope do you guys recommend for towing me out once I get stuck?!

First make sure your snorkel is sealed, your diff lock / low range works. A 10 ton strap connected up to your recovery points before you go in, wading plugs fitted. Then watch others with similar spec vehicles go first so you know its doable. Maybe go through with someone else first to get a feel for it, it can be frightening when the water comes over the bonnet and halfway up the windscreen.maybe do some smaller fords first, Terling / high Easter / boreham. Then all you can do is pray it don't go tits up. The only guarantee is you will have a smile on your face when you get out the other end, unless it does go tits up. From memory I think Chris is the only one to loose his disco there, but that's not surprising as he,s a mentalist where discos are concerned.(no offence Chris)

Yer didnt Chris try Terling when it was about 6ft :D

As Geoff says Tony always good to work your way up, if your motor is fairly standard heightwise then its worth getting some convidence doing some sub 3 footers and then going from there. Keep the pace nice an steady so you get a small bow wave. I use 5ton strops and i also have a 7 ton one, loads on ebay at a good price. i would get a few 4-5m ones and maybe one longer 10m one. Also a handful of decent shackles, not the cheap crappy ebay jate rings.

If you are about Tuesday we are out again and meeting at the Halfway House for around 7ish.

 no offence taken!
Lost my Disco at Terling due to floating and taking water in airbox. Got towed out and recovered. Got truck running again.
Did the same to my 110 at Violets lane, Mikey towed me out of there and managed to get it running again.

So something like this Extreme 4x4 Ltd BOW SHACKLES

With something like this
Extreme 4x4 Ltd EXTREME QUICK STROPS

Just checking I'm looking at the right things!! do they then just attach to the standard tow points?

Not sure if I fancy risking some of those bigger fords the idea of getting into a real mess like above would not feel me with excitement!!
Not sure if I will be about on Tuesday yet, I have promised to meet a guy to buy my mustang in Loughborough, however as above the idea of driving a 50 year old car a couple of hundred miles in the winter also does not feel me with excitement !!!!!!

I have never used the standard points, I fitted a steering guard with recovery points on for the front and used to use the tow hitch on the rear until I binned it then fitted a rear bumper with recovery point.
