Well finally got the crank damper fitted, lot quieter now. Got the crank bolt out with gun, managed to borrow a huge torque wrench to torque up new one, me and Mikey swinging on the end of wrench and bar to get upto 330lb/ft. Also got the HD steering bar and new set up on, ****ed off the RTC damper bracket has broken. Will get some pics up of it tomorrow.
Big thanks to Mikey for the help and tea, nice one Clive for the Monster wrench.
So if anyone's out the weekend.

Excellent news. Well done.
Will have to give the weekend a miss, still striping the old Disco :(

Good stuff, glad its sorted now, bet it took alot to get that bolt tight. I am hoping to be out at the weekend, hopefully it will be wet all week, maybe violets will be worth a shout??

Dont suppose anyone has an old pair of matching 16" tyres do they? Don't need to be great, barely legal will do, its just so I can test my trailer out on the road before I buy £140's worth of tyres for it...

Is 235/70/16 ok, if so I'll bring two down tomorrow morning.

Well done Geoff, was the angle OK on the new damper bracket ? must get around to fitting mine.

Not quite, it needs to be straighter. cut it off and rewelded it today and the angle looks better. should the steering arm rotate forward and back when you turn left and right? or is the damper now pushing it. You can see damage to damper the broken bracket has done.

Not sure if it should move, would think not as it could encourage the lock nuts to loosen, I will have a look tomorrow and let you know. Is that picture of the re-welded posisition ?
Is the damper OK just a bit scratched ?

is the guy on here who bought the 300tdi disco off me from kings lynn a few weeks ago?

Yeah that's me :) how ya doing mate Awesome truck - until my cambelt slipped lol (it got me home fine tho) the reason the truck didn't go above 60 was cos the cambelt was loose! It had never been tensioned lol - all sorted now and FRANK is a lot quicker :)

No they are original position, Just scratched the paint off, have done a temporary fix on broken bracket. If you look at the third picture you can see angle of steering rod.
