Hi to all, could any one tell me where the lane is in Stapleford Abbotts I`v herd some of you go on about, is it any where around the rabbits pup? thanks. If ya going out today have a good one..

Cheers Peter..

Not familiar with any at Stapleford, but there are a few around Navestock.

Hub and new bearing assembled yesterday, minus one drive flange bolt.
Just got back from camping and all seems fine. Had to check it on my local byway, just to be sure ;)

Replaced wheel bearing and still got play, James has just had a look for me and need to replace panhard bushes, track rod end is a bit iffy but don't think any of those is the cause. Just ordered four track rod ends for when press brake gets me steering rod made, and new panhard bushes, plus a disco drop arm to do the conversion. Think it's a garage job to sort wheel play as it could be swivel bearing/shims I don't have time / knowledge to strip it and fix.

have a look while some one rocks the wheel to see if its swivel or wheel bearings ,what bearings did you use and did you swap spacer to suit bearings(td5) ?swivel just take a shim out from under top pin (thin one )and check its not too tight once plays removed

Used timken bearings used existing spacer, you have just confirmed what James (not you) said I should do, just I don't have a lot of time or knowledge would rather some who knows what's what do it in case it Is something else.

Hope its sorted soon Geoff. I must confess mine goes to garage if things get too complicated due to lack of skills, then tools and finally space. But I'm getting better but thats down to lack of money.

Should hear if the 110 is mine tomorrow. fingers and toes crossed.

Geoff, when you jack it up do you have movement top and bottom, side to sideor both? If its only top and bottom then odds on its swival, if it's only side to side it will be in the steering and if it's both it's in the bearing/hub...

How much play have you got? Is there a rough feeling when rotating the wheel (feel the spring, gives the best feedback on rough bearings)?

Oh yeah, why I remember, mikey and coppin, I was out laning last night with one of your mates that's also a mate of mine, Barry lymer, it's a small world, he kept going on about 'my mates got this truck with these bits on it' and I was thinking yeah. I know someone with a truck like that...

Pretty much all round but not so much top/bottom. New bearings put in the other day, not sure about the spacer should that be replaced at the same time, have never replaced one before and always been ok.

The spacer only 'needs' to be replaced in the same way nylocs 'should' be replaced or springs 'should' be done in pairs, it's not essential, more a precaution, like mobiles banned in petrol stations, it's the manufactures way of covering thier arses for that very slim chance. If the movement is more in one direction it's not wheel bearings, I would do your steering joints and see what happens....

When you say steering joints do you mean track rod ends.
