Well had mine in at work today, done a damage assessment, the OSF hub seal has leaked but its all OK so will repack the bearings and nip it up, gonna do NSF whilst im there, other than that its only both diff seals around the flange but I already knew about them, other than that it all seems good with the Disco this time... Gonna connect that fan up and im ready for the next adventure!

Mikey might tell you if that's a good price. There are a few suppliers round Colchester he knows and may be able to let you know some details.

Is this for bumpers/sills? 3.6mm isn't man enough really, you ideally want 6mm for that...

Glad to hear the engines still going Jon. Who was your mate who might be interested in a Galv Disco chassis?

Yeah it went well, didnt have any real issues. It was Colin at Extreme4x4 who said about the galv chassis, any idea what price you want for it? He wants to resell so if you want the best money then whack it on eBay...

I have had a change of plans now anyway, the Audi is going on eBay today, what I get for that will fund a 'fender, I will then swap my suspension over along with winch e.t.c. and then I shall break the rest of it, being an ES there should be a few quids worth of bits...

So, hunt a 'fender down now, looking at £2500, want it as standard as possible really...

You've seen the light at last.:D
You might find something but it could be a TD, having said that I have seen a few in th past. Good luck.

Well I have been thinking about it, I dont want to spend no more on the Disco as I won't get it back, I was thinking of getting a beetle for a little side project but I cant warrant having 2 projects so im thinking get a defender and turn it into a bad ass off roader, it will keep me busy and should hold some value, more than the disco or audi. They have dropped a bit in price recently so im hoping for a 200, I dont mind a slightly battered one as long as the chassis is solid, I can clean the rest up, even a dead 300 and I can dump my engine in it....

You are making a good decision mate, look for one with a good chasis and and bulkhead, put engine, tranny, axles, suspension and winch off your disco on it paint it with a roller and brush and your sorted, they have dropped in value a little lately so with your budget you should be ok, you should have seen the state of mine when I bought it was a right heap

When I got mine

And now

I have seen a couple I might go look at this weekend, I shouldn't really as im spending the conservatory fund and taking the risk of selling my Audi later but I will worry about that at a later date lol

These are the two I have seen:

This one is a drive away in portsmouth but I dont mind. Its a 200TDi which would mean no work for me fitting an engine and its got a lift although im swapping my suspension (but will need these springs). £2500

This is the other one, its closer (west london) although not by much. Its only a TD but it looks very clean, lower miles and clean interior. Its £2850 plus I would have to dump my engine in so thats another £400 I cant get back from the disco:

I want to get one this weekend now tho, I can whack my wheels on and get laning straight away!

I did think that you know but I will be putting in bucket seats to stop me flying around, the windows are alot closer in a fender

Well the blue 200TDi is sold so that takes that one out the equation... might have to go look at the other one although really not keen on the engine swap... may have to continue shopping...

it looks like a dark sand colour, not really sure, looks kinda cool. Its a long way away and its a 19J TD engine which I dont want. I am looking at a pickup 90, I did want an estate back but this one is fully kitted, caged and pretty much ready to go, means I can sell the disco complete and hopefully get a bit more cash for it...

like I say its a pick up which isn't ideal as I wouldn't mind the 3rd and 4th seats as I will be selling my car and only have a 2 seater van otherwise... but it is sorted pretty much already and with the extra money from the disco I could put fold away seats in the astravan...
