Brian, you may well have air in your fuel
Had this with my van, a few new bits of pipe (less than £3) and it was crisp again
I found the timing was slightly out and after resetting I started her up with the standard puff of smoke. But then drive it up the road and it seems a lot less smokey and even a little more powefull.
I will know in the morning on a cold start when it's at it's worse.
Just need a ps pump now.
More time to speak to his mum then.....
oil wouldnt give black smoke ,its poorly burnt fuel ,over fueling, lack of air ,poor injection,or whats put into cylinders while cranking before starting

Brian what were you experiencing?
i am getting white smoke out of my exhaust for a minute or so on start up, then it clears up, but i cant seem to work out why its doing this?
