Hi all,
The wife tried to start P38 this morning but couldn't due to engine disabled & remote key not working, any ideas appreciated.
Thanks & bring on the snow.

By not working, do you mean the batteries are dead, if so, change them, not rocket science really. If the light on the remote is coming on when you press it you may need a resync.

search for eka code, there are many threads on this forum and a multitude of related fixes.

if you dont find the answer for fix the issue then post back with a fraction more detail and also try it yourself as wives and cars are usually a bad mix!!

Hi,
With regards not working, both keys don't work, hence I am assuming its not the keys.
Thanks

To resync a key fob when the battery has been disconnected or gone flat:
With all the doors and bonnet closed. Press the lock button on the remote once, put the key in the lock and turn it to the left and back to center.
The central locking may actuate. If not:
Press the unlock button once and turn the key to the right and back to center.
(Don’t keep the button pressed, it is just one quick press as if you were normally operating the fob)
The fob should now be synchronised.
If it doesn’t synchronise then the becm may have alarmed and locked itself and you will need the Eka code.
Sometimes the fob may not work or the correct Eka code cannot be entered either because of a lock or wiring fault.

The becm can cause this when the battery starts going flat.

Fingers crossed your Eka works ok. If you do not have it, telephone the dealer. If you have any problems pm me your chassis number and I will get the code for you.

Thanks for everyones help,
I have changed battery's on key fob and inadvertantly resychronised key, all good for now.
