please sum 1 help im now fed up of being female and owning a p38 due to garages walking all over me ive a 95 4.6 failed on emmissions i was told change cats ..done still failed change temp /coolant sensor ...still too high ...now ive been told lambas simply cant afford any other suggestions welcome or im goin to hv to break him :frown:

Could be the MAF (Mass Air Flow) meter - does the car run a little rough and sluggish at all??

The Lambda Sensors measure the O2 content of the exhaust to ensure the correct fueling is being used...if these are duff, it will give false information to the Engine ECU...

The MAF measures the incoming air and the ECU injects the required amount of fuel to create an even burn....the Lambdas then sense the amount of O2 coming out the other end so between the MAF and the Lambdas they tell the ECU how much fuel to inject.... if they are giving duff readings the ECU could over or unde rfuel the engine...

My first suggestion would be to get it plugged into a diagnostic computer and read the live data from the various sensors and see if anything is reading off scale or out of whack - also they could see if the ECU is storing any fault codes that could lead to an answer....

Put your loaction down in your profile - there could be a helpful member close by with the diagnostic gear to plug it in and take a gander for you....

Modern injected cars shouldn't fail emmissions, unless a sensor is reading out of whack, there is an air leak into the engine, oil is leaking into the chambers due to excessive wear, or the exhaust is shot..!!!

As above. Changing things based on guesswork is just chucking money away. Diagnostics will determine what is wrong. May just be the fueling trims need to be re-set after the new cats were fitted.

im in chippenham wilts car seem to run sweet as a nut im gutted may just put on ebay for spare and break it :(

If the rest of it is good - shame to break it just on the emissions....

It could just be a fuel trim reset is required, or a sensor out of whack....

Lets hope someone close by can help out - or take it to a decent indy for diagnostics

sadly no garage round here i can trust as they hate the p38 they sting me i only hv a week to get mot due to hols or wont be goin away either :(

fast idle hc before and after cats passed co failed before and after cats lamba failed b4 and after new cats ..................2nd fast idle co failed before and after cats hc passed lamba passed before cats failed after new cats ...............i hhope this helps as confused me :(

sounds very much like lamda sensors, anybody know if the lamda sensors are the same on a 95 rangie and a 2000?.reason being my rangie is sat here in trowbridge and i would not be averse to swapping some parts around to try and nail this problem

mine has 4 wire blk red white yellow and blk connector plug quite skinny i do hv friends 4 litre on drive but cats are knackered so cant trust the lambas on there grrrrrrrr
