Compression in some cylinders is about 7 bar and others at 5 bar so going to put some oil in the plug holes and try again.
Possibly as its been a while since she has run its possible the oil has been washed away.
Then may try some twin electrode plugs.

That's all plugs out and average of 3 attempts on each cylinder?

They should all be within 10% of each other.

If still out then rotate until both valves are shut and blow air in the adapter and try to hear where it is escaping - inlet or exhaust or past the rings into the sump ... Best keep an eye on the expansion tank, just in case.

Maybe try the bosch super 4's always made a big difference on the older petrol cars:)

Not checked rockers
Good idea to put air into adapter
Fancy plugs would be a lot cheaper than the heads so will try that first

Update
Put ol in bores and all ok apart from No 4.
Either rings gone or valve not shutting
The plan is to put borescope in to see if bore is scratched by broken ring and check the rockers
There may also be a 4.0 engine available,
Is that a straight swop does anyone know?

I think you can change the engine size with a nanocom, but don't know if you need to do anything else. I think it will connect up to the gearbox no problem

How reliable will that be? You can have your engine rebuilt vy V8 Developments for about £2.5k. they seem to have a hell of a waiting time at the moment though.

Engine capacity is on P2 in the GEMS settings in Nanocom. Probably will need adaptive values reset as well, but that should be all.

I'll second that. V8 Developments are doing a full engine rebuild for me but doing the complete job of removing & replacing the engine which costs a lot more than £2.5K. They have had my P38 since last August & hopefully I will get the car back sometime in the next month. Their original promise to complete the job was October/November last year

MrGorsky has been waiting since last June and still no engine. His wasn't even anything complex and we took the engine out so simple as can be for them. Apparently they're booked solid until October so that gives an indication of the lead in time.

V8 Developments have had my car since last August but I paid a £1,000 deposit to reserve my slot last June.

Thanks for all the info folks.
Havent borescoped it yet
I was going to ask about who is best to rebore and I guess is V8 Developments. Where are they?

I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself, depending what needs doing. There's Turner engineering too although there have been a few horror stories with v8s there in recent years. They may sell a refurbed head complete with valves or something like that though if it is just your valves and rockers that need replacing.

V8 Developments are here: www.v8developments.co.uk

Well worth ringing and talking to them. They're very straightforward and helpful.

I heard a rumour they won't even take your car on until October now because of their backlog. It'll be a few months there depending what you want them to do.
