In 2004, yes, but not on Jan 1st. The Disco 2 line was closed down in mid 2004 so it wasn't worth going OBDII compliant then. The D3 was first released in mid 2004 and that was compliant from the start.

Petrol was, as OBD2 compliance came in 1999 iirc.
Doozils became OBD2 compliant as said in 2004.
This is why the icarsoft can say it is OK for a D2 on some adverts.

he did start the post, he has prefixed it with Disco3.
Anyone who reads it and makes an assumption it fits a D2 TD5 without doing their homework does need to get to know their motor a bit better......

as there are i think 4x D3 and some D4 owners thought it would be nice to add some threads for these models
when i had my hippo , that was a 2002 and got the hawk eye due to it not being compliant

You need to be careful about doing this. If yer seen touching it while in charge of yer vehicle by the police they can stop you. If you get stopped for any other reason and they see it, it will be difficult to tell them anything that would convince them you weren't using it, if it was powered and displaying data. They can be flexible but if they say they've seen it then that's enough. Peeps do use them for maps but not all have got away with this. The betterer option would be to use screen grab software to record the screen and look at it later on. Or get a passenger to look at it instead. Cyclists are quite keen on snapping pic's of peeps with ipads etc on display. Police have been having crack downs on distracted drivers for some time. That includes phones and sat navs etc in stands which become a distraction if they see them being used. They don't like it if they see yer touching them while driving.

before i set off i do the live record setting , in order that i don't actually touch the screen
as i thought in case the police treated it as using a mobile phone
do the live record then pull over, save it then as a screenshot , reset it then set off again whilst it records the data
agree would be a lot easier with a passenger , as they could do screenshots whilst driving
didnt wish to get into the situation of messing around with it
was told off once for putting in new details whilst driving into a sat nav , police said it's a no. no, took heed of there warning
the copper was a decent chap who said i wasn't going all over the road but not to enter details onto any satnav etc whilst driving
Does your app record an entire journey Gary? I use Torque on my Droid that allows a full journey to be saved. This can then be reviewed later on in the comfort and safety of home. You IID can save trip data too iirc

to be honest i haven't tried a full journey , ref the command obd2
will try it again when i do a decent trip
must admit the iid as well is the dogs , what a piece of fantastic software and also the back up service is second to none

ref the command obd 2 , i wasn't expecting it to be very good, however is a useful comparison
got to get it on something like a 100 mile plus trip so i can then print out the data
think for a small sum of some £20 think it's ok, but time will tell as i use it more
see also some double din radios etc use obd2 where u can display data etc
Even my satnav can hook up the the OBD for live data and fault code reading.
The IID is brilliant Gary. It's a shame it doesn't work with the FL1, or I'd have kept mine.

You app's GUI looks nicer than Torque though.

the iid i think is one of the best out there , also with the addition that if u email pat at iid he is extremely helpful
like the way u can also turn things on and off , the suspension app i'd also very simple to use in adjusting the height
have recently bought a new reservoir tank, to finish off the rebuild , along with new bolts
have noticed the compressor inlet , exhaust pipes are very close to the handbrake cable , so as the hand brake cable is applied it touches the air line pipes
did bend the hand brake bracket over a bit and sleeved the cable , so it doesn't rub
when the spring comes along with warmer weather , going to take the wheel off and re route the air lines fiurther away from the handbrake m so there's no chance of any rubbing as suspension is altered on the access , normal and off road settings
for the sake of £40 quid might get a new inlet exhaust silencer , so it has all new pipes into the compressor and well away from the handbrake cable , seems abit of a bad design , alas though normal for a land rover , lol
did wonder about the other systems , ref the obd2 , went with the command obd seeing it was recommended by the seller
The IID is the best diagnostic tool available.
The D3 EPB cable design is daft. My inlet/outlet pipe had a hole in it from being rubbed against the cable. The suspension would hiss sometimes after parking as it self levelled
I repaired it with an 8 mm Voss connector. It was easy to do and cost a couple of quid. The hissing went away after the repair.
I can't comment on I pad / I phone apps as I won't have anything Apple.
There are plenty of good apps about though.
