Pop down to the south of France this summer sit in a traffic jam and you will see them working. Otherwise unlikely in my experience.

I only saw, or rather heard, mine run during that very hot period last summer when going around town to the tip and back - about the same time as the AC dumped a whole load of water into the footwell

I run the aircon all the time, it gets warm here, never had to check the drains thoughOh yes, get a wet arm often. I keep my A/C on all the time to keep the humidity down to a minimum. What about you?
There are 3 relays, pick the right one.
